John Abraham says NO to Sanjay Leela Bhansali
John AbrahamSanjay Leela Bhansali seems to be having her worst days in bollywood. First it was his favourite Salman Khan refusing for his film Heera Mandi and now its John Abraham who said No for the project.

It all started with Hurman Baweja backing out of his other project Chenab Gandhi coz his dates clashed with Ashutosh Gowarikar's What's Your Rashee. Hurman was then replaced by John in the film and Bhansali was all set to begin shooting from April 2009.

John did have dates available for Bhansali's upcoming Chenab Gandhi before the release of Dostana. But things have changed post release. Fervor and action has left John with too much on his plate.

John has his dates for David Dhawan's Hook Ya Crook and Abbas Tyrewala's 1-800-Love, that he has practically no time nor interest for Bhansali's next.
The filmmaker seemingly ran out of choices and has decided to postpone the shooting till December.

As for the progress on the Heera Mandi front, well, only time will tell.

Genelia DSouza gets Her Dream Hero
Genelia DSouzaThink of a girl who is a die hard fan of a bollywood actor. Further think that she gets an opportunity to play a role opposite her dream hero. How this situation will be? Same is the case with Genelia D Souza.

Bollywood Actress Genelia D Souza has been a die hard fan of actor John Abraham for a while now. And it is almost like a dream come true for her when she found herself sharing screen space with him in her next film, Hook Ya Crook.

This is a crush which probably dates back to Genelia's college days when John attended the college fete. The actress, who shot into prominence after the success of Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, is also working with actors like fardeen Khan and Harman Baweja in films like It's My Life and Life Partner. The actress is currently being offered a lot of roles which have her cast in girl next door mould. But she has no problems with that right now. She is open to challenges and even open to doing an all out commercial film or even action movies. Despite not having become an overnight sensation like her co star Imran Khan, Genelia, like her name, is quite genial and is quite happy finding her feet in Bollywood.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni and John Abraham in Hook Ya Crook
Director, David Dhawan is going to opt a U-turn from his genre of comedies and has decided to direct a serious movie titled Hook Ya Crook. The movie stars John Abraham and Indian Cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Hook Ya Crook is an Indianised version of the famous 1981 hit Escape to Victory which was penned by Rensil D’ Silva. Escape to Victory focussed on a football match and featured the football legend Pele.

Hook Ya Crook revolves around Cricket. The prison set is currently being built by art director Samir Chanda in Hyderabad. ‘Hook Ya Crook’ features a big cricket match as the climax. Dhoni is playing a leading role in the film.

Sources reveal, “UTV, who had earlier made Goal, a football-based film, want Hook Ya Crook to be an authentic cricket film. The climax will be a huge cricket match like Ashutosh Gowariker’s Lagaan. Indian cricket captain Dhoni is being brought on board to share the field and cinema space with the rest of the cast and also to help his teammates give a believable spin to the game.”
According to the director of the film David Dhawan, “Cricket does play a very important part in my film. This would be my most uncharacteristic film, very different from the comedies I am associated with”.

Bollywood witnesses increasing male skin shows
The leading ladies of Hindi filmdom are in for serious competition from none other than their male counterparts with an ever increasing number of them shedding inhibitions and showing off chiseled torsos and butts.

Whether it is still shots of John Abraham with his shorts half pulled down, showing more than a hint of sculpted butt, in upcoming release "Dostana" or it is the towel-dropping scene of "Saawariya" filmed on Ranvir Kapoor, male nudity is on the high in Indian films.

Looking desirable matters, believes "Dostana"-maker Karan Johar. "No mainstream actor should run away from being sexy," he says. "It's as important for a man to look sexy as it is for a woman. Every superstar has had a high sex appeal - be it Mr. Bachchan, SRK or Hrithik. One must look desirable to be desirable."

"Dostana" promises plenty of display of male sexuality. The film features John in a pseudo homosexual relationship with Abhishek Bachchan even as both hanker for sizzling-hot Priyanka Chopra. Incidentally, Abhishek was named a gay icon a couple of years ago and will be seen working his brooding sexiness to the hilt in the film.

Director Apoorva Lakhia, who made "Shootout at Lookanwala" and "Mission Istanbul", believes that in India women don't go and watch action films, so it helps to have sexy looking men. And in a macho film, it is not uncommon to see girls doing awe-inspiring action stunts while the men look good.

Even mighty superstar Shah Rukh Khan realized what women want when he worked on his abs to reach six-pack status in his last mega hit "Om Shanti Om" after spending nearly two decades without having to take off his shirt for any scene.

The mood in the industry is that these days women want male skin show. It is in demand, says Abhay Deol, a relative newcomer in the industry. Hitting the gym was the first item on Hrithik Roshan's 'to-do' list when he set his eyes on entering filmdom. He managed his first hit without having to show his six-packs but when he had to revive his sagging fortunes it was an open shirt and extremely-low waist jeans that helped.

On the other side of the globe, Hollywood has always known that sex sells more than anything else. In fact, male frontals are getting unprecedented screen time at the multiplex these days - in mainstream popcorn fare and broad comedies - thanks in large part to comic mogul Judd Apatow, who has pledged to shake Americans from their squeamishness about male anatomy in movies.

And the girls are more than happy.
