Deepika Padukone is the only Indian actress to feature in the Time 100 Influential People in the World, sharing space with names like Nicole Kidman, Gal Gadot, Greta Gerwig and Lena Waithe.

In the Time magazine, international star Vin Diesel, Deepika's co-star in her Hollywood debut "xXx: Return of Xander Cage" has penned words of appreciation for her.

"Making that movie, Deepika took committed to a whole other level. That's who she is as a performer. She wants the whole movie to shine, which is a rare thing.

"Anyone could talk about how beautiful she is, and anyone could tell you about her unmatched comedic timing. But she isn't just a star. She's an actor's actor, dedicated to the craft," Diesel wrote.

Deepika scored a success at the box office this year with the epic drama 'Padmaavat' in which she played the title role.

One of the highest paid actors of Indian cinema today, she has 18 brands in her portfolio and has a strong social media presence.

Apart from her work as an artiste, Deepika's philanthropic side has seen her spreading awareness on the condition of mental illness. She has spoken about her battle with depression and has been working towards creating awareness with her NGO The Live Love Laugh Foundation.

The Time magazine list also features actress Meghan Markle, who is set to become a British royal family member upon her wedding to Prince Harry next month.

When asked about marriage, the actress said that she has never planned it but instead she lets relationship progress naturally at its own pace. ‘Padmavati’ Release Date To Be Postponed

After months of silently dealing with a number of controversies propagated by various fringe groups, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali came on record to crush allegations about his film ‘Padmavati’. In a video message, the director assured everyone that his film upholds the honour of the Rajputs and does not depict anything that may hurt anyone's sentiments.

However, if latest reports are anything to go by then the makers of the historical drama are allegedly being pressured to postpone the release of the film, citing political reasons. According to online reports, the makers have been intimated by members of the ruling party in Gujarat to delay the release because of the upcoming assembly elections on December 9 and 14. The party allegedly doesn’t want to lose the favor of the right-wing groups, who are opposing the release of the film. However, no official communication has been sent out to the producers.

Calling the film ‘Padmavati’ a “tribute to the sacrifice, valour and honour of Rani Padmavati,” Sanjay shared a video that featured him saying, "I've made this film 'Padmavati' with a lot of sincerity, responsibility and hard work. I have always been inspired by Rani Padmavati's story and this film salutes her valour and sacrifice. But because of some rumours, this film has become a subject of controversy."

Pointing out that the root cause of the trouble was an alleged dream sequence involving Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s characters, he said, “Through this video, I am reiterating that in our film, Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji have no such scene together which will hurt anyone's sentiments.”

The film that stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in leading roles is expected to release as scheduled on December 1.

Deepika’s mini skirt to be auctioned

"While on a nationwide tour, the DMD team is discovering that while the track itself is being criticised, there is great excitement over the costume that Deepika wears in the music video. There is a huge demand for it," reveals the source. Rohan Sippy says, "We are all surprised by the reaction to Deepika’s look in the track. We decided to auction it for charity." Anushka Manchanda has crooned for the DMD title track Mit Jaaye Gham song that Pritam Chakraborthy composed.

Those who feel Deepika Padukone is coy and very demure, here is some revelation. In an interaction with the media recently, Deepika shed all inhibitions saying she is very comfortable kissing on-screen. At a promotional press meet of her upcoming romantic comedy ‘Break Ke Baad’, Deepika showed her professional grounding in Bollywood, stating kissing her co-star on the big screen is not a problem for her. The dusky beauty said, “For me on-screen kissing is as comfortable as any other scene. The media makes it to be such a big deal. We are actors at the end of the day. Whether we have to give a dialogue or sit at a dining table and eat food or sit under a table and do a kissing scene, it’s exactly the same thing. There’s no need to make it a big deal.”

Speaking in context to ‘Break Ke Baad’, Deepika said, “This film is a love story. It’s talking about love and relationships in today’s day and age. When you are trying to make cinema the way it is today, certain things like a kissing scene are essential. Having said that, it’s not like I will go kissing in every film.”

Deepika Padukone to get Salman Khan as Bodyguard

We must say that Deepika Padukone is one of the luckiest actresses in the bollywood. Believe it or not, but Deepika may soon have a chance to proclaim that none other than Salman Khan is her bodyguard!

Salman may turn the bodyguard of Deepika in an upcoming flick, starring the two in lead roles. Reports reveal that the Hindi remake of the South Indian director Siddique’s Malayalam film ‘Bodyguard’, will have Deepika opposite the macho guy Salman.

A lot of filmmakers had approached Siddique to get the rights for the movie’s Hindi remake, but only Atul Agnihotri could manage to convince the former for the same. Siddique will take up the role of the director and writer in the Hindi version after completing the Tamil.

Grapevine has it that the Tamil version of the film stars Asin Thottumkal and the South superstar Vijay.

Nevertheless, while Salman has already been signed for playing the lead role in the Hindi remake of the flick, Deepika is not sure yet. However, filmmaker Atul Agnihotri added that they were still working on the script, and would begin shooting for the flick on December 6.

Why Deepika wore a saree at Cannes?

As a starry-eyed teenager, she wanted to represent her country at an international event, wearing the national costume. On her very first red carpet appearance at the Cannes International Film Festival, actress Deepika Padukone did just that and with style that wowed one and all.

"Long ago, when I had started modelling I had promised myself that whenever I attend an international event I’d wear a saree because I’d rather represent my country in the national costume than in western clothes. I get enough opportunities at home to wear western clothes. When I’m seen at an international event, I’d rather be fully Indian," Deepika said.

The 24 year old, who attended the event as the face of liquor brand Chivas Regal, opted for a Rohit Bal - off white, slightly embroidered saree with touches of gold.

When told that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore a gown, Deepika said: "I wouldn’t like to comment on others. Speaking for myself, I find the saree very Indian and yet very sensuous. I wore an off-white Rohit Bal creation on the red carpet. It felt good to be so Indian so far away from home."

Deepika had reportedly made discreet inquiries about what Aishwarya would wear before deciding on her own look. The 36-year-old "Cannes regular" looked great this year in a violet blue fully embroidered tulle and mousseline gown from Lebanese designer Elie Saab.

Deepika’s two-day whirlwind tour to the Cannes Film Festival also included sight-seeing. On day two of her trip, she took off on her own to take in the sights and sounds of the scenic seaside town.

"There’s so much to Cannes besides the festival. In fact, the first time when I came to Cannes in 2002, I was here not for the festival but as a tourist. I remember I had stood outside the venue of the Cannes film festival and taken pictures. I had promised myself that next time I’d be back as part of the festival and here I am," she said.

According to Deepika, the best thing about the event was the fact that there was unconditional acceptance for Indian cinema.

"Here at Cannes, they aren’t looking at me or anyone else from Bollywood as oddities. Even if I was in a saree, I didn’t feel marginalised or ethnic. I felt at home!"

Deepika Padukone unfazed by rumours

Model turned bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who’s been linked to Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor and most recently liquor baron Vijay Mallya’s son Siddharth, is unfazed by the rumours and says she has learnt to accept the fact that all this comes with the work she does.

"It makes no difference to me because I know that I am leading a life I want. I understand that it comes with the work I do and I am fine with it. I am very happy with my life and the work I am doing," Padukone, who was in the capital to inaugurate the Power Biking Studio of Anatomy Health Club, told reporters. Also present were ace badminton players Saina Nehwal and P. Gopichand.

The actress is also shooting for her new film "Break Ke Baad" starring Imran Khan in Delhi.

A self-confessed fitness freak, Deepika feels that regular workouts, yoga, healthy eating and positive thinking is what makes her look fit.

"I think everybody’s body type is different and it reacts differently to different work outs. It is important for you to understand what suits your body and exercise accordingly," she said.

"I do a lot of yoga. Although I eat everything but at the same time I know there are certain kinds of food that I put on weight with so I try to avoid them. I think eating healthy, regular workouts and positive thinking can help anybody look better," she added.

Unlike other Bollywood actresses, the 24-year-old doesn’t believe in being size zero.

"I don’t think it is healthy to be size zero. The Indian body is not cut out to be size zero. It is always nice to look healthy," Deepika added.

She also refuses to take the tag of being the lucky mascot for Mallya’s IPL team Banglore Royal Challengers.

"I think if the team is playing well the credit should go to all the players. It is very unfair to say that I am the lucky mascot and give me the credit," she said.

Deepika Padukone all set to rekindle love affair

It’s a great responsibility for someone like me and I have to do justice to the character,” quips Deepika.

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has become the first Indian beauty to be on the cover of Latin America’s Vogue.

The actress who is also a supermodel visited Lima Peru, last month for a photo shoot for Vogue and Cosas Magazine.

During her visit, the “Om Shanti Om” actress stayed at the presidential suite at the Miraflores Park Hotel, Lima.

The suite’s previous occupants include Bill Clinton, Duran Duran and Tommy Hilfiger.

"The presidential palace that I visited is to date one of the most stunning pieces of architecture I have come across, its beauty is indescribable. The warmth that the people of Peru gave me is something that I will always hold close to my heart," said Deepika.

"If you get this much respect as a stranger, I can imagine the care you get when you are their loved one.

"Be it the Minister of Tourism whom I met at the Peru fashion show or a shopkeeper in the local market, everyone greeted me with so much of affectation that it fills me with gratitude even now," the actress added.

Deepika previously walked the ramp with international model Naomi Campbell at the Lakme Fashion week 2009 in Mumbai and also attended the Fashion Week Peruvian Moda as the guest of honour.
