Kangana Ranaut to turn director
Kangana Ranaut Her unconventional looks and frizzy hair landed her atypical roles in Bollywood. Kangana Ranaut now harbours a dream of donning the director’s hat and already has a script in mind.

"I’m quite happy with how my career is moving, but in terms of the future, soon, I guess I’d like to direct a movie. I have a script in mind. Let’s see where it goes," said Kangana. She revealed her plans, but refrained from divulging details.

The 23 year old sailed into Bollywood with the crime-based romantic saga, "Gangster - A Love Story" (2006), where director Anurag Basu presented her as a gangster’s girlfriend. The actress won accolades for her portrayal in the critically and commercially acclaimed film.

After that she again chose to play an unconventional role in "Woh Lamhe", which was filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s final goodbye to former girlfriend Parveen Babi. In the film, Kangana brilliantly portrayed the late actress’ madness and despair.

Again in "Life In A Metro", a film about big city people coping with emotional and psychological trauma, Basu presented her as a call centre executive who is in a relationship with her married boss.

With Bhandarkar’s "Fashion", a dark tale about the fashion industry, she hit bull’s eye. Her stupendous performance where she brings forth the miseries of an ex-ramp queen won her a National Award.

Most of her films have seen her in tragic roles; as a result she is often referred to as a modern day tragedy queen, a title once given to legendary actress Meena Kumari for playing grief-stricken characters.

"It’s been quite a journey. I came to the industry when I was just 17 with no real idea of what to expect. I was fortunate that ‘Gangster’ was a huge hit at the box office. I won a lot of awards and the industry gave me another chance.

"Otherwise, it’s an industry that’s very unforgiving towards outsiders. This year I’m trying a lot of new genres, different films. It’s been a lot of hard work but also lots of fun," revealed the actress, who was last seen romancing Hrithik Roshan in "Kites".

At the moment, Kangna’s kitty is full of light-hearted films like "Double Dhamaal", "No Problem", and "Tanu Weds Manu". She is also doing "Rascals", "Game" and "Tezz".

Her next release is "Knock Out" where she will share screen space with with Sanjay Dutt and Irrfan Khan. Kangna plays a journalist in the psychological thriller, which is releasing Oct 15.

"Knock Out- is a very different film from anything I’ve done before. The entire film takes place in two hours and was almost shot in one location. It’s a fast paced action thriller that I think people will really enjoy," she said.

Directed by Mani Shankar, "Knock Out" is a Bollywood adaptation of Hollywood film "Phone Booth". After playing all kinds of roles, Kangana will be seen as a scribe in the movie.

"I studied the body language of journalists reporting from crime scenes for my role, but there was this one point in the film where I actually got a chance to experience the urgency and intensity journalists experience every day.

"This was a shot where a car was supposed to fly up in the air and land on the ground. Instead of landing like it was supposed to, the car caught fire and came spinning at a very fast speed towards me. I managed to get out of its way in time, but got a real first-hand experience of the dangers journalists face on the job," she said.

The actress has given a makeover to the image of crime journalists by sporting stilettos and off shoulder dresses in the film.

Apart from acting, she is also trying her hand at designing. She has herself created clothes for the movies "Rascals" and "Tezz". She may soon launch her clothing line.

When asked whether she was looking for love, she said: "With so much work on my plate, I’m happily single for now!"

Kangana Ranaut turns fashion designer
Kangana RanautBollywood beauty Kangana Ranaut is on the road to becoming a fashion designer. The curvaceous babe has decided to design her own clothes in two of her upcoming films. It is also reported that the actress is likely to launch her own line of clothes after that.

The above mentioned films in question are David Dhawan’s ‘Rascals’ (produced by Sanjay Dutt) and Priyadarshan’s ‘Tez’ (earlier titled ‘Bullet Train’ and produced by Ratan Jain).

Sources reveal that some designers, including Anaita Shroff, were short listed for ‘Rascal’, but things did not materialize due to budget and date issues. Anaita however denies the same. “I didn’t sign ‘Rascals’. I had date problems since I’m working at that time on Abbas Mastan’s ‘The Italian Job’. There was no question of any budget issues,” she informed.

Well, whatever the constraint, but ace director David Dhawan apparently told Kangana that she should take a call on her clothes. Adds a source: "Dhawan is quite impressed by Kangana’s sense of dressing. And so is Priyadarshan."

It should be remembered here that only recently it was reported that hotel heiress Paris Hilton had asked Kangana to be the face of her fashion brand in Asia.

Acting is not MBBS : Kangana Ranaut
Kangana RanautAlthough a young and vivacious Kangana Ranaut hit Bollywood early on, the dazzling beauty is much mature her age as she minces no words in setting her preferences right!

Hailing from a small town in Himachal, Kangana rose to instant stardom with flicks like ‘Gangster’, ‘Woh Lamhe’, ‘Life In A Metro’ and ‘Fashion’ while nursing a bitter break-up with Adhyayan Suman.

Talking on her Bollywood journey, a chirpy yet nonchalant Kangana said, “I’ve never said I didn’t want to be an actor. I wanted to, but knew it’s not a cakewalk. So whenever people used to ask me if I’d step into B’wood, I’d simply reply, ‘Dude, get me there if you can,’ for I knew it’s not easy. Acting is not MBBS - there are no textbooks, no written tests that you can sit for, excel in and get a degree. In the film industry, there’s no rulebook. In fact, before an exam, one knows what one has missed reading, and should have known, to get the right marks. Here, you don’t even know if you’re going wrong!”

RAAZ - The Mystery Continues could be a hot movie
Kangana Ranaut
Is this a mere coincidence? While Hollywood studio Warner Bros. awaits the feedback to Chandni Chowk To China on January 16, another Hollywood giant, Sony Pictures, is keeping its fingers crossed for RAAZ – The Mystery Continues, which opens worldwide the following week, on January 23.

The Bhatts are known for qualitative films and RAAZ – The Mystery Continues, should not be an exception.

Meanwhile, there was a rumour that the Bhatts are planning to dub RAAZ – The Mystery Continues in South Indian languages like Tamil and Telugu, releasing it simultaneously with the Hindi version.

And Mukesh Bhatt clears the air, "We aren't dubbing in South languages”.

Kangana Ranaut working hard on her diet
Who doesn’t want to look better? The latest victim of this look-phobia being Kangana Ranaut in the Bollywood. Kangana Ranaut has put on quite a bit of weight of late. And it has been reported that she has been working extra hard on her diet. All because she believes that she needs to look better.

She remarks on her new look, "I was too thin earlier. And the fact was that I never really took care of myself. But now I have started taking care of the way I look. I am exercising and eating the right food," she adds. And Kangana says that she is glad with all the response and appreciation. "There have been times when I was criticised and I used to feel very bad about it. Things change with time. I am growing up now," says she.

But that's definitely not the only reason the actress is trying to put on some weight. She reveals there is more to it. "I need to look different for a Salsa number which I will shoot soon for my next film 'Kites'. That's a reason too. And let me tell you I am very nervous about it right now," says Kangana. The Salsa will obviously be opposite Hrithik Roshan, who, without a doubt, is the best dancer in the industry. "I think he is very kind," Kangana says talking about the actor praising her recently. It seems she likes Hrithik. Or shall we put it this way that she likes people with muscular physic like Hrithik. And she does agree. "On a personal level I like kind of muscular body," she smiles.

Kangana was recently seen as a model given to drug addiction in 'Fashion' and soon will be seen in 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues' directed by Moht Suri. And then she will be seen romancing Hrithik in one of next year's most awaited movies, 'Kites', which is being directed by Anurag Basu.

Kangana features on the cover of the famous fashion magazine 'Seventeen' with her trademark Rapunzel-like tress, that beats everyone's stress!!

Miss Ranaut, on her own confesses that she was never a lazy child as she was always up to something. No wonder then, when she started acting, she just did not want to get settled as a mediocre actor. She also goes on to say that after 3-4 movies more, she might just take the plunge into direction and writing screenplays. This once upon a time wannabe-Prime-Minister-would be- Indira Gandhi, simply sweeps you by your feet as she says that the day she becomes the Prime Minister, she will change everything!!

Fashion faces another controversy

Madhur Bhandarkar is known for making realistic cinema and many of his characters seem to be inspired by real life characters.

Even his latest film Fashion, which is all set to release next week, has Kangna Ranaut playing Shonali Gujral, a supermodel whose choices in life bring about her ultimate downfall. It may be recalled that ever since the film was launched, there have been stories about Kangna's character being inspired by Delhi based model Geetanjali Nagpal who also had a similar fate.

Despite it being quite obvious that there are certain similarities between Kangna's character and Geetanjali Nagpal, director Madhur Bhandarkar keeps denying the same. However one look at this picture and you can say that Madhur indeed seems to be inspired yet again by a real life character.

It is also reported that Mumbai Police has ordered Mr. Bhandarkar to show the movie to Police officials before the release.
