Shilpa Shetty to become highest ever-paid celebrity

Gorgeous Shilpa Shetty has been approached by a world-famous publisher asking her for rights to publish her autobiography. The actress will reportedly be paid a whopping amount to say her life-story, which is not less than any Bollywood potboiler.

The long-limbed lass saw many ups and downs in life before she found her ground in the industry. According to a source, “The publishers have asked her to start off with her experiences in Tinseltown as she dissects her struggle to reach the top and the ups and downs she had to go through. The autobiography will also narrate her success in Celebrity Big Brother post which she became a global icon.”

The source added, “The book will heavily talk about her turnaround and transition into a successful and multi-faceted entrepreneur. Shilpa has also been requested by the publisher to write a closing chapter about her marriage. She has been approached with a great offer that would make her the highest ever paid celebrity in India to write an autobiography.”

“She has an enviable fan following in England and in other parts of Europe too and publishers feel her autobiography will fly off the shelves in no time. How many reprints the book will have is also being discussed,” the source said.

Shilpa Shetty confirmed the news. “It is true that I have been approached by a big publisher to write my autobiography. I realise that my life story will be a colourful one since I have seen so much and experienced the ups and downs. With no godfathers in the industry, I earned a name and repute through hard work for years and if not instantly I have been duty rewarded for being honest. So, this is a huge compliment,” Shilpa said.

However, the actress will take her own time before starting off with the autobiography. “I will definitely write one. But right now I am too busy with my cricket venture. I have no time to breathe. Then, I have spas and other things also to look after. I have lots to do, miles to go and much to achieve in future. I have lots of plans that I need to execute.”

Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty got Married

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her beau, London based businessman Raj Kundra, entered the holy wedlock on Sunday, 22nd November 2009. Finally, it was the D-day for the couple where both exchanged marriage vows at the Bawa Villa.

The wedding was a gala celebration, which was graced by numerous B-town celebrities and other guests. The wedding took place at a heavily decorated venue amidst tight security.

For the marriage ceremony, Raj rode on a chariot and reached the sparkling Khandala venue to wed his sweetheart Shilpa. The bridegroom was sporting a turban with his face veiled by a sehra made of stringa of pearls. He was also holding wearing a sword, as per Indian tradition. The Bollywood beauty was wearing a saree-cum-lehnga by ace designer Tarul Tahiliani, which was embellished with Swarovski crystals with red details. Apart from other Bollywood celebrities, actor Rohit Roy and Jackky Bhagnani were also spotted dancing in the baraat.

The wedding took place between 5 and 6 pm and was performed in a Bunt style, with Shilpa donning a traditional South Indian lehenga.

The marriage vows were exchanged in the Mangalorean tradition while the pre-marriage rituals were conducted in the Punjabi style. Shetty belongs to the Bunt community in Mangalore while Kundra is a Punjabi.

"Shilpa is very happy to get married to Raj. She will be a daughter first, than a daughter-in-law. So I think woh bhangda karke doli mein baithegi,” said Shilpa’s friend and business partner Kiran Bawa, who is playing the host of the wedding.

The couple will leave for Mumbai on Sunday evening itself. A reception has been arranged in Mumbai on November 24 for Shilpa’s Bollywood guests. The couple will then leave for their honeymoon in Bahamas.

After romancing for the past two years, Bollywood’s long legged lass Shilpa Shetty and her NRI boyfriend Raj Kundra have finally decided to change their single status! The couple is getting engaged on October 24 in Mumbai.

Gossip corner says that it will be a low profile engagement ceremony taking place at Raj’s abode in Juhu and Shilpa will be seen wearing a Manish Malhotra outfit.

A famous Bandra store is expected to manage Shilpa’s jewellery. “Shilpa has always been our client. She will look very beautiful with my jewellery. Hopefully, we will be doing her wedding jewellery too,” says an official from the jewellery store.

It’s quite surprising that Shilpa is getting engaged while her younger sibling – Shamita is still living in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house. Speaking on Shilpa’s engagement, a close friend said, “Yes, it’s happening very suddenly. Raj proposed to her two days ago when he gifted her a ring for Diwali. Raj is very keen that they formalise their relationship. Shilpa consulted her parents and accepted the proposal.”

The engagement will be attended only by the Shetty and Kundra clan as “Invitations have been sent out, but only to a few select people. As far as the film industry goes, very few of her colleagues know about her sudden mangni. Shilpa is on top of the world.”

According to Shilpa’s friend, the marriage which is due in early 2010 will take place once “Shamita comes out of the ‘Bigg Boss’ house.”

Shilpa Shetty sued for 6 Million Pounds

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has been sued for 6 million pounds by the former boss of her newly acquired restaurant chain, on grounds of unfair dismissal.

Jamal Hirani, 42, founder of fast-food chain ‘Tiffinbites’ is claiming that he was forced out to make way for the star and had earlier filed a lawsuit in an industrial tribunal claiming more than 1.5 million pounds.

He has now filed a 6 million pounds lawsuit in High Court, based on the 30 percent of the firm he previously owned.

Hirani alleges that he was forced out by colleagues in a process that led to the firm closing and opening under a new name, the V8 Gourmet Group.

"They manufactured false accusations against me. This ultimately was my company and I have been removed. I understand that since I have left Shilpa Shetty has invested in the business," said Hirani.

Shetty, 34 who became a household name in Britain after winning the reality show ‘Celebrity Big Brother’, recently became the company’s co-chairwoman after she and fiance Raj Kundra paid 6 million pounds to buy a 33 percent stake in it.

Shilpa Shetty to pay farewell visit to Jade Goody

Reality TV star Jade Goody will be visited by former foe-turned-friend Shilpa Shetty for a tearful last goodbye before she loses her battle against cancer.

Shilpa Shetty has regularly kept in touch with Goody over the phone since the mother of two learned two months ago that she was dying.

Shetty was unable to attend her wedding last month but will fly in from India March 18.

According to a source, “She couldn't go to the wedding because of filming commitments in India and would love to see her again if she is well enough. It all depends how Jade is feeling”.

Shetty and Goody clashed on 2007's “Celebrity Big Brother” but later made up. Goody, 27, was starring on India's version of the show, hosted by Shetty, when she learned last August of her cancer.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra are hosting a grand party to celebrate their entry into the IPL March 10 at the Grand Hyatt and Preity is invited for the event.

In the headlines for buying stakes in the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Rajasthan Royals with boyfriend Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty admits candidly that she has joined in to add glamour to the team and not because of her business acumen.

Shilpa Shetty was at her vivacious best at the press meet where she had turned up with boyfriend Raj Kundra to announce their business tie-up with Indian Premier League cricket team, Rajasthan Royals.

Coming to the big cricket deal, when asked how she will be able to handle the business, Shilpa said, "There is immense trust, faith, and understanding between us. I don't have to worry with Raj around. He has handled business well and I can rely on him completely."

'Well I am not going to bullshit myself into believing I've been brought in for my business acumen. The team had it all. They needed the glamour quotient and for that I am here,' said Shilpa.

'But please, I am not going to be one of the pom-pom girls on the field, if that's what the spectators expect. I'm certainly not going to be the eye candy of the venture,' she added.

Shilpa and London-based businessman Raj Kundra bought a 12 percent stake in Rajasthan Royals.

Asked her where her glamour quotient will be used, she said: 'In the music video, to begin with. Our next move is to shoot a music video. We want it to be the slickest and the best. Of course, I'll be in it. Isn't that a given?'

Despite a hundred cameras trained at them, Shilpa never once looked uncomfortable and was seen exchanging laughs and asides with Kundra. Neither did she dodge questions about her marriage with him. "Whenever we fix the date there will be an announcement and it will happen soon," said the lady.

Many starlets were vying to take up the item song number in Karan Johar’s latest flick, Dostana. It is coveted because it will mean working for the prestigious Dharma productions banner.
But Karan Johar has zeroed into Shilpa Shetty to feature in the song sequence along side John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan.

Why Shilpa Shetty? Karan’s reply is, “Because she is the hottest”. He adds, “We finally zeroed in on Shilpa because she has the best body in town. She has done a fantastic job but credit also goes to choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant and music director Vishal Shekhar. Shilpa’s number will be the introductory song along John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan.”

Tarun Mansukhani who is making his directorial debut with Dostana too was impressed by Shilpa’s professionalism. He says, “Shilpa was comfortable wearing anything for the song. We were to shoot the song in seven days but completed it in four days flat.”

Shipa readily agreed to the project as it is a Karan Johar production and also because it features her favourite crew members such as - Manish Malhotra as the stylist, Mickey Contractor for the make up and Latika for her hair.
