Mallika Sherawat To Adapt An Emmy Award Winning Show

Most of her visits to Mumbai have been fairly discreet. However, this time, Maliika Sherawat is in the city with a purpose. Apart from honoring professional commitments, spending time with family and savoring mangoes, the actress is in talks to adapt an Emmy Award winning show for the Indian audience. While she hasn’t frozen on her plans yet, she’s open to making it for the small screen and for the web.

The actress says, “I can’t name the show because I am contractually bound but it’s true that I want to remake it for the Indian audience. We haven’t decided on the platform yet because it all depends on how things move. It’s a strong show centered on a female character who is independent and takes charge of her life. It will be nice to see a character which doesn’t fit into the typical “saas and bahu” bracket. Another reason to be in Mumbai is that I have my family and my little nephew here. I’m also relishing chat and mangoes in the city. You don’t get these mangoes anywhere else in the world.”

Yana Gupta replaces Mallika Sherawat

Sassy Yana Gupta has been offered to do an item number by Vishesh Films in ‘Murder 2’. It was reported earlier that Mallika Sherawat was the first choice to do the dance number in the film, but it appears Yana now is the number one contender in the industry for sizzling item songs. The Czech beauty made a mark in the tinsel town with her hit item number ‘Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo’, following which she was flooded with offers to appear on various reality shows on TV. Yana won many praises from judges on the show called ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’, Season 4. Given her amazing dancing prowess, Yana was approached by the makers of ‘Chalo Delhi’ to dance on the tunes of the popular ‘Laila’ remix which has already created a rage in the town. As of now Yana’s enjoying accolades pouring in from all quarters for her sensational ‘Laila’ number and even before the film has been released, the dainty beauty is being preferred for future dance numbers. Mallika Sherawat refuses to bare all for Double Dhamaal

Bollywood bombshell Mallika Sherawat is known for her baring acts in the movies. But the sex siren refuses to indulge in skin show for her upcoming movie ‘Double Dhamaal’. Strangely, Mallika is very reserved and being extremely conscious about her looks and styling in the comic caper.

The film’s unit is taken by shock after the sudden decision taken by Mallika, known as one of the boldest actress of the industry.

Said a sourcee, "Her attitude has left everyone exasperated. It has taken not only the makers but also her co-stars by surprise. She is just not keen on going bare-dare."

Mallika said, "It’s funny how obsessed everyone is with what I wear when all I am trying to do is, be true to the character."

"First, there were reports that I was in a bikini in the first shot and now, that I’ve turned into a sati savitri . Neither version is entirely accurate," she added.

‘Double Dhamaal’ will be directed by Indra Kumar and produced by Ashok Thakeria. The movie stars Sanjay Dutt, Kangna Ranaut, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Aashish Chaudhry and Javed Jaafery. Mallika is paired with Sanjay Dutt.

The actress was reportedly too much excited to be paired with Sanjay Dutt. Mallika has been missing from Bollywood after her 2008 film ‘Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam’. The actress had been focusing on her Hollywood projects, but with ‘Dhamaal’ it seems a much matured Mallika is back in the town.

Mallika Sherawat at Lakme Fashion Week

Bollywood bombshell Mallika Sherawat lifted the spirits of the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) by attending fashion designer Anita Dongre’s show as a guest.

When asked why she didn’t make Mallika her showstopper, Dongre said: "I just invited her as a friend to attend the show. In fact, my showstoppers were two Rajasthani dancers who came all the way from Jaipur and did a wonderful job."

The outfit Mallika was wearing was from Dongre’s summer collection, the designer revealed.

"She was wearing one of my designed outfits. She was wearing a yellow organic cotton federate dress from my summer 2011 collection," said Dongre.

In the collection, the embroidery was cleverly used on cuffs, necklines and yokes in glittering gold and silver. Drapes appeared on dresses with the greatest of ease as they innovatively moved all over the garments, while cowls were used with great ingenuity.

The silhouettes were figure-hugging and sexy and the highlights were a raglan-sleeved cowl-neck outfit, and a hooded one with a cowled yoke and a simple elegant printed sheath.

"It was Rajasthan inspired, I enjoyed designing it. Everyone was wearing bandni dresses which were again inspired by Rajasthan," said Dongre.

The designer also wanted to promote Rajasthan’s folk culture through her show.

"I really want to promote folk art. Rajasthani dancers were my way of saying India should treasure its folk artists and I think from now on in every show, I am going to get folk artistes from across the country. I will put them on the ramp as I think that they deserve to be recognised," said Dongre.

Apart from Mallika, Dongre’s show had a band of women celebrities cheering for her. They included Sunidhi Chauhan, Esha Koppikar, Diana Hayden, Dipannita Sharma, Gurinder Chadha, Tisca Chopra and Vidya Malvade.

Mallika Sherawat plays with snake to promote Hisss at Cannes

She is known for her bold roles in films and now Mallika Sherawat is showing her bold avatar even in film promotions. The actress was seen posing with a live python to promote her snake film "Hisss" at the ongoing 63rd Cannes International Film Festival.

Dressed in a yellow and black dress, Mallika, who plays a snake woman in the film, attempted to handle a 22-foot python Sunday to promote the film at the Majestic Hotel in Cannes, France.

"All the Snakes have just entered the Majestic Hotel in Cannes! Hissstory is being made," Mallika posted on her Twitter page.

Directed by Jennifer Lynch and produced by Govind Menon and Vikram Singh Lamba of Split Image Pictures, the movie also stars Irrfan Khan, Divya Dutta and American character actor Jeff Doucette. It will be distributed by Venus Records and Tapes.

The actress also revealed the Indian release date of the film.

"The announcement was made at Cannes, ‘Hisss’ being released (in) India Independence Day (Aug 15)," she added on the micro blogging site.

Mallika Sherawat to star opposite Laz Alonso

Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat is continuing her Hollywood stint with "Love, Barack" - she has been cast opposite "Avatar" star Laz Alonso in the political comedy.

"Laz Alonso is a talented and exciting actor. I’m very lucky to be working with him," said Mallika.

American filmmaker Doug McHenry is directing the film where Mallika will play Aretha Gupta, a devoted, local Obama volunteer coordinator.

The story, a snapshot of a moment in time that was filled with hope, change, and passionate debate, follows the romantic and political roller-coaster. It shows that the month before election day, Democrat Aretha unexpectedly falls for her Republican counterpart (Alonso), a handsome, dynamic African-American working for the local McCain office.

"Love, Barack" also stars veteran actress Ruby Dee, comic actor Gerry Bednob and film and television actress Loretta Devine.

In the past, Mallika made news when she won a small role in a Jackie Chan movie,"The Myth". She is also doing a Hollywood film named "Hisss" starring Irrfan Khan and directed by Jennifer Lynch.

Mallika all praises for Aishwarya

Mallika Sherawat may be going places owing to her right connection and right attitude but her feet are firmly on the ground. Mallika Sherawat honorary citizen of Los Angeles

Mallika Sherawat, with her flesh flashing antics, could never go beyond the saucy actress’ league back home, but the stunner is beguilingly treated no less than royalty in the United States. Her popularity quotient is in fact so high there, that it has earned her the privilege of honorary citizenship by the Los Angeles City Council. The actress, who has been rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of Hollywood ever since she stepped on foreign soil, will be officially conferred with the honour on the eve of India’s Independence Day.

LA City Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa along with the other members of the city council will do the needful on the eve of India’s Independence Day. On the occasion, the city will recognise Sherawat as an honorary citizen and mark it by presenting a resolution for her extraordinary career and charitable efforts.

What makes this a landmark honour, is the fact that this will be the first time the city of Los Angeles will officially confer an honour on any Bollywood celebrity.

According to a source as saying, "It will be a celebrity studded event where many special guests are expected to attend. Some of these will include her Hollywood friends like world-famous composer Yanni, film director Jay Chandrashekar, CAA super agent Emanuel Nunez, film director Jesse Dylan, Hisss director Jennifer Lynch and producer Govind Menon among others. Mallika has personally invited all of them to the event."

Mallika Sherawat- The Deadly Snake Woman in Jennifer Lynch's Hissss

For sure, this one is a first for Mallika Sherawat. The Bollywood hottie is all set to play the role of a 'Naagin' in the Bollywood- Hollywood co-production, Hissss, directed by renowned Hollywood director Jennifer Lynch.

The film, which also stars Irrfan Khan, is about the vengeance of a 'Naagin' (The Snake Woman) and is produced by Govind Menon & Vikram Singh. From the looks of it, a lot of detailing and effort seems to have gone in getting the right look for Mallika Sherawat's character. Mallika's character is of a snake that transforms into a stunningly attractive woman.

Robert Kurtzman, one of the greatest special effects artists of the West, has been entrusted with the job of giving the right look for Mallika in this film. Robert has worked on films such as Vanilla Sky, Pulp fiction, Spy Kids and Evil Dead. The kind of make-up used is MUFX (prosthetic make-up) which is a technology that has won numerous awards. Two make-up artists have been working on Mallika's look and the material she wears is so slimy that at times it just sticks to the skin. What's more Madame Sherawat can't even move in her natural way with her make-up and at times is even carried to the sets. As for those scary eyes, Mallika is seen wearing some really huge contact lenses to get the desired effect.

Bollywood has seen films like Naagin, Nagina and Jaani Dushman, which had actors transform into snakes and seek revenge but going by the detailing and styling gone into getting the right look for the Snake Woman in this film, it can be safely said that this is a first of its kind in Bollywood.

Rakhi Sawant Vs Mallika Sherawat

Actress, item girl and host of chat show, Rakhi Sawant is furious with another sultry actress Mallika Sherawat for refusing to appear on her T.V. show, the Rakhi Sawant Show.

The show, which airs on Zoom T.V.. has garnered guests like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. This makes Rakhi furious that with such big stars agreeing to be part of the show, Mallika Sherawat had the audacity to refuse the show even while she is busy promoting her new film.

Rakhi says that Mallika Sherawat was not on her wish list of interviewees but the show’s producers approached the latter who refused. “ I have been told that Mallika is insecure about facing me. She has no reason to be. I am not a good dancer like her and she’s a big star where as I am the poorest person in the industry today,” says a fuming Rakhi Sawant.

Rakhi feels Mallika shouldn’t have behaved in such a haughty manner, “Does she think she’s such a diva? In God’s eyes, we are all one and the same. Itna ghamand kabhi bhi nahi karna chahiye.(One should not be so proud) If I do, I will go to the gutter. I say she’s better than me but what I can give she can’t. But I am honest…. I won’t become smaller if she doesn’t come on my show, she becomes small for refusing. Anyway, I have no problems that Mallika refused me. When she needs me I will stand by her.”

This could be the time for Mallika Sherawat

Though Mallika Sherawat featured in three films, each of which went on to be money spinners at the box office, she didn't really have a pivotal part to the play in the plot. At the beginning of the year, she belly danced to 'Maiyya Maiyya' in Guru and disappeared after a 5 minutes appearance. Later she danced to 'Mehbooba Mehbooba' with Himesh Reshammiya, refused to kiss him on the lips, pocketed close to Rs. 1 crore for around 20 minutes screen time, and then pronto said a good bye. The year ended with a blockbuster Welcome and while this was the only film where she had something better to do both in terms of screen time and relevance to the film's plot, it again wasn't really The Mallika Sherawat movie. In a way, 2007 was a “guest appearance” outing for Mallika.

Now 2008 is certainly a happening year for Mallika Sherawat, especially the current season, which would see two of her films arriving in back to back months. While her Ugly Aur Pagli has been confirmed for a 25th July release, Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam would arrive on either 22nd or 29th August. Incidentally both the films are comedies and come with altogether unique storylines.

Ugly Aur Pagli is a breezy romantic comedy entertainer that explores the love hate relationship between an aggressive Mallika and a meek Ranvir Shorey who is greeted with 99 slaps, only to be presented with a solitary kiss. A PNC production, the film is being aggressively promoted and would be arriving on the same day as Mission Istanbul and Money Hai To Honey Hai.

On the other hand Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam seems to be a riotous outing waiting to happen with a mad bunch of actors like Rahul Bose, Paresh Rawal and Kay Kay Menon pairing with Mallika to do something really unique on screen. Together, they form a part of a drama troupe called “Kalakar Natak Company” that produces socially relevant and thought-provoking plays, which no one understands and hardly anyone sees.

Mallika will be seen in a hot avtar in Ugly Aur Pagli and later as a fully dressed “Anarkali” in Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam. So, audience is certainly expected to arrive in hordes.

WELCOME all set to be welcomed

WELCOME, featuring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Feroz Khan, Paresh Rawal and Mallika Sherawat is all set to hit the silver screen on December 21.

It’s a comedy movie produced by Firoz Nadiadwala under the banner of Base Industries Group through Studio 18. Anees Bazmee is the director and story writer of the film who has proved his comic skills in the movies like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and No Entry. The melodious music of the film has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya and Anand Raj Anand.

One of the most remarkable point about this movie is that Anil Kapoor has designed his own look in this multi-starrer comedy.

He is essaying Katrina Kaif's serio-comic don brother in the first half after which he falls for Mallika Sherawat's character in the second half of the film.

"As there is a complete change in my life once the girl walks in, my clothes change colour from black to bright red as well," laughs Anil. He adds, "It's true that I've chosen my own clothes. It was a pain to have to shop so much though.”

Anil has planned and selected his entire look himself.
