Akshay Kumar's designer outfit to be auctioned

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar’s black sherwani, designed by Bangalore-based designer Ramesh Dembla, will be auctioned after he wears it at the grand finale of his signature campaign against the use of the word ‘retard’. The actor, who is the brand ambassador for ‘Special Olympics Bharat’, will be walking at the event titled ‘Be a Fan of Dignity’ - being held to motivate people to eradicate the use of the ‘r-word’ in reference to mentally challenged people.

Dembla is excited about being associated with the cause.

"Akshay called me up and said he would like me to do this show. I was very excited about being associated with such a sensitive cause," said Dembla.

The designer has made a black sherwani for Akshay to wear for the show.

His collection of 80 outfits will be dominated by black, red and gold.

"I wanted to portray certain emotions through my show. So my usage of red, black and gold signifies bravery, determination and pride, respectively. My show is called ‘Nishtha’, which means dignity and we are working towards the cause of the dignity of the mentally challenged," said Dembla.

Akshay will also lead a pledge at the ceremony where everyone present will take an oath to eradicate the use of the ‘r-word’ in reference to mentally-challenged people.

The actor is attempting to ban the usage of the word ‘retard’ in all languages across India.

Akshay Kumar donates Rs 50 lakhs to charity

Akshay Kumar might call himself the ‘lowest paid actor’ in Bollywood but that doesn’t seem to limit his generosity. The actor, who is known for his charitable work, has donated a whopping sum of Rs 50 lakhs for Salman Khan’s charity organization ‘Being Human’. What’s more is that Akshay intends to double this amount before the year ends. And Salman is much too touched by Akshay’s sweet gesture.

Said a source said, “For years, Akshay has been working for various causes. But he has always been wary of transferring funds to charitable institutions. Now in Being Human, Akshay has found a charitable trust that he can trust.”

However there is another side to Akki’s sudden generosity. As per reports, Akshay’s decision to donate such a big amount stems from the fact that Salman did a cameo in his co-production, ‘Tees Maar Khan’, free of cost.

And post Salman’s act, Akshay told Salman of his availability for any event related to ‘Being Human’.

Big B to support Special Olympics

Amitabh Bachchan will now be seen voicing his concerns about disabled children, all thanks to Akshay Kumar, brand ambassador of Special Olympics, who requested him to propagate the cause.

"Akshay was shooting in the film city next door and messaged me that he would wish to meet me. He propagates the cause of the Special Olympics and desired that I do a small TV byte that stated how we must never refer to disabled children in their disability and call them retarded," Big B wrote on his blog. "

Instead, they needed to be treated and handled with care and understanding, teaching them to stand on their own feet and not be the cause for any kind of contrived sympathy. Felt good doing that."

The Special Olympics provide year-round athletics training to kids as well as adults with intellectual disabilities.

Akshay Kumar to endorse LG TVs

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has been chosen to endorse LG Electronics’ Flat Panel Displays (FPDs) because the company feels he represents the brand very well.

"We have chosen Akshay as our brand ambassador for LG FPDs because he personifies the LG brand. He is a big style icon, gizmo and action freak”, said Moon B Shin, managing director of LG Electronics.

The actor says he is impressed with the range of flat television sets the company offers.

the actor said, "My wife and I are crazy about watching movies at home and the LG LED (Liquid Emitting Diodes) TVs gives cinematic pleasure at home. Their LED TV is so clear that it gives a real image. It’s classy.”

Denise Richards locked lips with Akshay Kumar

Hollywood actress Denise Richards admits that she loved locking lips with Bollywood actor and “sexiest man in India” Akshay Kumar in their upcoming film 'Kambakkht Ishq'.

The former Bond girl is quite impressed with Akshay’s kissing skills and is adamant no man in Bollywood can match him.

"Akshay was so down to earth and very genuine. He made me feel very comfortable, plus he’s a good kisser! I can see why he’s India’s sexiest actor!" said Denise.

She also admitted she struggled with the language barrier while filming her first Bollywood movie - but got a helping hand from her co-stars.

Kylie Minogue wears a sari for Blue

Kylie Minogue is not only shaking a leg for the bollywood movie Blue, but she has also fallen in love with all things Indian including Bollywood and the sari.

Akshay has been playing Kylie Minogue's unofficial host in Mumbai and Kylie is a huge Akshay Kumar fan.

Acoording to a source, "It started when Kylie watched Chandni Chowk To China. She was completely hooked to Akshay's antics. In fact one of her main reasons for accepting Blue was the opportunity to meet up with Akshay. When she decided to do the film and the date for her arrival was confirmed she made discreet inquiries about Akshay's schedules and his availability. She also wanted to go through the full India experience, including the khana, a wedding and of course the Taj Mahal and Jaipur -Rajashthan route."

Confirming Kylie's Akshay-centric attitude to Bollywood, the film's director Anthony D'Souza says, “Kylie is a big Bollywood buff. She has done her homework. She has seen lots of our movies. And she's a huge Akshay fan. She's seen lots of his films. I think she was at the premiere of Chandni Chowk To China in London. The comfort level between them comes from the fact that Kylie knows Akshay's work”.

She's also able to match steps with her Bollywood co-stars. Says Tony, “She gets the nuances perfectly correct. And she's very intelligent. I've shot with her for a week and I'm bowled over by her professionalism. And she's a fantastic performer”.

Kylie has no Hindi dialogues in Blue. But apparently she gets into a sari for a part of her song.
