Sanjay Dutt to celebrate Wedding Anniversary in Kashmir

Sanjay Dutt who has lately been out of the country holidaying with his wife in New Zealand heads for Kashmir to shoot for Rahul Dholakia's Lamhaa under the heaviest 'bandobast' ever provided to any Indian actor for shooting in any part of the world.

Producer Bunty Walia was under serious discussions with every security channel in Kashmir to ensure full safety for the cast and crew, especially Dutt's, as his presence in J&K is seen as potentially more volatile since he has a massive fan base in the Valley.

That's not the only danger posed to Dutt's security. With his enormously controversial past record including several communal issues, it is felt by many of Dutt's well-wishers that it'd be foolhardy for the actor to be physically present in the extremist-hit Valley.

While the superstar makes light of the security issues, his CEO Dharam Oberoi is more candid in his concern. "It's somewhat dangerous for Baba. More so since he never goes with his personal security anywhere. Baba feels very embarrassed about bouncers following him everywhere. But Bunty Walia has left no stone unturned to secure the 80-unit member's security, especially Sanju Baba and Bipasha Basu's security. CRPF jawans, the army and the J&K police have all been deployed to protect the Lamhaa unit from any kind of violence."

But the best security measure to prevent any blast has been saved for the last. Jammers have been installed all around the hotel and the area where Sanjay Dutt and the crew will be shooting. These devices detonate bombs automatically when detected.

The impressive security 'bandobast' has convinced Dutt that it's not only safe enough to shoot for Lamhaa but also bring in his first marriage anniversary on 19 November in Kashmir.

In Srinagar, overlooking the Dal Lake is the Oberoi Towers where the unit of Lamhaa will be staying. Mrs Sanjay Dutt is expected to join her husband at this spot of jannat for their wedding anniversary on 19 November.

I was tempted. But then I looked at my son, and that moment was over. Really, at this moment I want nothing more than to look after him. And he's quite a handful. On some days, I just want to sit under a shooting umbrella in a sunny outdoor location all over again. But then nothing gives me more happiness than Gautam,” she explains.

Namrata brightens with maternal pride. "I don't want to say it myself. But Gautam is a very good- looking boy. He has my eyes and Mahesh's smile."

Namrata's husband Mahesh Babu is the reining superstar in Telugu cinema, and she has now started taking interest in his career.

Sanjay Dutt to play Charles Sobhraj
Munnabhai M.B.B.S aka Sanjay Dutt is taking a U-turn and is set to play the role of notorious criminal Charles Sobhraj.

Charles Shobhraj of French nationality is a criminal of half Indian- half Vietnamese origin. He has enjoyed the infamous sobriquet as the “bikini killer” and “the serpent’. The first because he is reputed to have murdered at least 20 backpackers in the 1970’s and 1980’s and the second because he has evaded the police across five continents who were on his chase. Presently he has been serving a life sentence since 2004 in Nepal for a double murder he committed a few decades ago.

The movie "Charles and I" promises to be a racy thriller based on his life. To be made by People pictures and directed by Prawaal Raman, its features Sunjay Dutt as Charles Sobhraj.

“Charles is a complex character - a charming man with a dangerous mind and dangerous intentions. Finding the right actor who has the ability to exude all these qualities at the same time was a tough call. We were looking for an actor who radiates star power coupled with the finest acting prowess to portray Charles. The only actor in my opinion who fitted that profile was Sanjay Dutt”, says writer-director Raman.

The film, “Charles and I", will be shot in Turkey, France, India and Australia. It will focus on the years of cat and mouse that Charles Sobhraj played with the law. The film is expected to hit the theatres in the middle of 2009.
