Russell Brand gets namesake bullock from PETA India

Actor and long-time animal rights defender Russell Brand and wife singer Katy Perry have received an unusual wedding gift from two animal rights groups in India - a bullock named after Brand. The two were married at an exclusive resort in Rajasthan last week. The bullock, or young bull, was a present from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India and Animal Rahat, a nonprofit organization that provides free aid to animals.

Brand was named the "sexiest vegetarian alive" by PETA UK in 2007.

"Russell the celebrity and Russell the bullock have something in common, they are both very handsome fellows," said Poorva Joshipura at PETA India.

"The gift of a namesake is also fitting because just as Russell Brand embarks on his new life as a married man, Russell the bullock has also been given a new lease on life - the heavy loads he once pulled have been lifted from his shoulders for good."

PETA India has yet to hear from Brand in response to the gift.

Katy Perry all set to wed Russell Brand

Aman-i-Khas in Ranthambore – set to host the much-awaited gala Indian wedding of singer Katy Perry and British comedian Russell Brand is looking resplendent as a bride. The famous celebrity couple will get hitched today according to the Hindu traditions at the resort. Russell Brand and fiancée Katy Perry have chosen to sit on giant ornate thrones for their wedding this weekend at the resort near Ranthambore national park in Rajasthan. Russell will come in all regal finery to the venue on a decorated horse escorted by a grand pageant of dancers, elephants and camels.

Katy Perry will be wearing Lebanese designer Reem Acra’s dress along with traditional Indian jewellery during the wedding. Even Russell will be sporting traditional Indian henna tattoo. Confirming the news a source told a daily, “They are very much keeping to Indian tradition. There will be feasting and dancing. And Katy will be painted head-to-toe in henna tattoos.”

Celebrating their big fat Indian wedding, Katy and Russell will exchange vows amid ‘East Meets West’ theme with a special performance by celebrated choreographer Sandip Soparrkar and his supermodel wife Jesse Randhawa.

"Sandip and Jesse had performed at Madonna’ birthday and everyone loved it. So there will be a special performance by them. The piece will combine Kathak and Bharatnatyam with Tango and Paso doble," said the source.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Tours manager Mohan Singh, whose company is helping to organise the event, confirmed that both Russell and Katy want a traditional wedding. “This would be a colourful Rajasthan wedding, and both Brand and Perry will be attired in Indian wedding attires,” he said.

Katy and Russell’s gala reception will be held on Sunday at the Rambagh Palace hotel in Jaipur.

Earlier, Russell and Katy threw a Bollywood-style feast to kick off their four-day celebrations. The celebration was marked with dancers, snake-charmers and fires at the luxury Aman-i-Khas resort. What’s more is that the workmen have been constructing a stage, and famous singer P Diddy is expected to perform on the night.

Buzz has it that Aman-i-Khas is being guarded by armed guards. The venue is secured with bamboo sticks and canvas spreads to avoid prying eyes of the media.

Katy Perry to tie the knot with Russell Brand

Comic actor Russell Brand has finally proposed to Katy Perry. And Perry is excited about walking down the aisle with him. But the pop princess turned her nose up at the pricey Cartier ring that her beau presented to her.

Brand is now on the hunt for a suitable ring to give her on New Year’s Eve.

Russell is searching for a jewellery designer to make up a ring in time for New Year after the pair discussed what they wanted to have.

Russell officially popped the question during her quick trip to Britain last week for a pre-Christmas get together and the two are beyond thrilled by the fact that they’re heading up the aisle.

According to a source, "Russell knows Katy’s the one for him. He’s never been into a girl like he has with her and they’re besotted. He asked her to marry him last week and she quickly said yes. They don’t know when the wedding will be but they are planning to make it in 2010 if the schedules can work”.

Meanwhile it has emerged that Russell Brand has bought a mansion in Los Angeles worth 2.2 million pounds.

The four storey four bedroom family home is Brand’s Christmas present for girlfriend Katy Perry.

He is now set to leave London - where his bachelor flat is up for sale for 2.5 million pounds - and become a Californian resident.

Brand has been with the 25 year old singer since September.
