Two years back when I started my blog, I was wondering about one question- how to promote my blog? I was just searching the google to know about few techniques to promote a blog. Here I came to know about web directories and the importance of web directories. I learnt that a web directory can play a vital role towards bringing traffic to a blog. These web directories are like telephone directories in everyday use. The only difference is- they contain a huge list of web addresses about a certain topic or niche.

Then, there is some catagorisation about these directories. The very first differentiation is free and paid web directories. Further they are catagorised according to the nich of the content something like business, technology, arts and entertainment, advertising, movies, computers, electronic gadgets, internet, politics, sports, recreation etc. There is a very good free to submit web directory which is called DMOZ. Another such directory is Yahoo web directory.

If you have a site or blog, you should submit your content to a number of web directories so that your blog reaches to maximum number of audience. In order to find out a good list of web directories, just search the google with keywords like free to submit web directory, SEO friendly web directory, technology web directory or business web directory according to your content. But above all, never forget to submit your content to DMOZ. Its an open directory project and the largest human edited directory on the web.
