Nicole Scherzinger was previously roped in to co-host the show with Steve Jones. Other judges on the show are Simon Cowell, LA Reid and Paula Abdul.

Considering the poor show of Bollywood flicks at Box Office in 2011, B-town’s light-eyed beauty Aishwarya Rai has cut down on her fee for Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’, as the actress will be sharing profits with Arjun Rampal, Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV. Apparently, UTV Motion Pictures, Bhandarkar Entertainment, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and the lead stars of ‘Heroine’ have consciously taken a decision to stick to a budget of Rs 18 crore. Madhur Bhandarkar is known for keeping a strict watch on the budget of his film so far. ‘Fashion’ was made in less than Rs 15 crore. However, with Aishwarya and Arjun Rampal in lead and other three stars yet to be signed for ‘Heroine’, keeping a tight cap on the budget is going to be a tough decision. Said a source, “Every actor including Aishwarya Rai, Arjun Rampal and even Madhur Bhandarkar himself have slashed their fee.” “It’s a sensible business decision. Ash and Arjun will be sharing the profits of the film. They are confident of ‘Heroine’s’ prospects at the Box Office,” added the source.
Siddharth Roy Kapoor, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures said, “We have worked very successfully with Madhur in the past. Getting a film made within the right budget is crucial to insuring its commercial success. On ‘Heroine’ too, we have insured the same.”
‘Heroine’ was announced at Cannes Film Festival 2011.

Italian luxury shoe designer Guiseppe Zennoti collaborated with jeweller Chopard to make a 180,000-dollars pair of fuchsia high heels that caught the eyeballs of everyone at the Cannes Film festival recently.
It was not easy to compete with gems on the screen at Festival but Guiseppe Zanotti came pretty close.
The strappy stilettos glittered with diamonds, pink sapphires, tourmalines and russellites.
Model Anja Rubik wore the heels with a feathery blue minidress.
The pink high heels may be pricey but could not beat British jeweller Christopher Michael Shellis, who created a pair of gold, diamond encrusted high heels valued at 225,638 dollars.

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen showed no evidence of ever having children -let alone giving birth less than two years ago, as she strutted down the runway for the debut of her new lingerie line, Gisele Bundchen Intimates, for a Brazilian company. “I think it’s muscle memory,” the mother of 18-month old Benjamin Rein said to Vogue shortly after the birth of her son with husband, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. But Bundchen, once known for her weakness for McDonald’s cheeseburgers, also kept active and watched her diet during her pregnancy. “I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week,” said Bundchen.
“I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate, and I gained only 30 pounds,” she added.

It’s thumbs up from designers for Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai who walked the red carpet in a beige one-shoulder Elie Sahab outfit on the opening day of the 64th Cannes International Film Festival. "I think Aishwarya’s outfit is very elegant and trendy. Its very sophisticated and reflects maturity. I would say it’s the perfect mix of east and west," designer Leena Singh of designer duo Ashima-Leena said. The actress completed her look with her hair tied up, simple earrings and Jimmy Choo clutch bag in her hand. Aishwarya has been attending the French film festival since 2002 as the global face of L’Oreal. Last year, the actress wore a violet blue fully embroidered tulle and mousseline gown, which also belonged to Lebanese designer Elie Saab’s fashion house. The designers feels that the 37-year-old actress’s stylish and classic look this year is much better than her previous ones.
"She is looking great. It seems she has lost a lot of weight and looks more fitter. It is definitely a better option than her previous outfit she wore on Cannes last year. It’s classic and stylised," said designer Charu Parasher.
Designer Alpana of Alpana-Neeraj echoed a similar view. "I think she has been wise with her pick this time. The colour, the work and her hairdo are taken care of in the right manner. The minimalistic approach makes her look young. And definiteley she looks far better than the previous years," said Alpana.
While Aishwarya’s hair was tied up, designer Reena Dhaka feels that the former beauty queen should have left her hair open. "It is very much of the 90s look, which is in fashion. I wish she would have let her hair down. I like her more in that," said Dhaka. Designer Pravesh of Pravesh and Jai says, "She has done full justice to the outfit."
Actress Minissha Lamba also walked the red carpet Wednesday in a one shoulder gown designed by Gauri and Nainika. Minissha was in Cannes to attend the premiere of Woody Allen’s "Midnight in Paris".
This year Bollywood will have a strong presence at the Cannes fest, which started Wednesday. Apart from Aishwarya and Minissha, actresses like Sonam Kapoor, Frieda Pinto, and actor Saif Ali Khan will be walking the red carpet at various events. The festival will end May 22.

Former beauty queen Diana Hayden is to luanch her book ‘A Beautiful Truth’ in Septemeber and says it kept her engaged for the last two years. "I have put my two years of hard work and research into this book. There were days when I used to work for as many as 20 hours. I think after Miss World, it is my book on which I have worked so hard on," said Diana. "Everything in this book is done by me, be it research or anything. The book is like an encyclopedia for women, who will find every information about make-up or body shape in it. So let me clarify that it is not only for models, but for every woman out there," she added. Dressed in a white anarkali kurta and fuchsia chudidar, the former Miss World was in the capital for the launch of Allergan’s derma filler - Juvederm XC.
Diana worked in a few Bollywood projects like "Ab Bas!" and "Tehzeeb" and now she is working with TV actor Karan Singh Grover in a new film called "Lorie", which is being directed by Pavan Kaul. "Coincidentally, the movie too will be released in September and all I can say right now is that I loved the script and decided to be a part of it. It is based on a real-life story," she said.
After making an appearance in the second season of reality show "Bigg Boss" (2008), she had been dormant of sorts. Was it a deliberate attempt to stay away from the limelight? "I was never keen on Bollywood. I am a very simple and direct person and all I want is to be happy. I love writing and that is what I was doing when I was not in the arclights," she said.
"I am not here to please anyone or compete with anyone. I am here because I am busy doing things that make me happy. I have always believed that life is short and one should enjoy it fully, that is what I am doing," she added.
Today, winning a beauty pageant is considered the short-cut to Bollywood. So, does she feel that this diverts the focus of the winners? "I think we are very spoilt. If you look at the winner’s list, we are one of the highest title-holder winners. So I think this should be appreciated rather than putting too much pressure on the contestants," she said.

Cannes International Film Festival kicks in from the 11th of May and goes all the way uptill 22nd. Bollywood stars such as Aishwarya Rai, Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto are set to make their presence felt at the big event. The three gorgeous Indian women will be appearing on the red carpet as ambassadors for L’Oreal Paris. It is the first time that L’Oreal Paris will have 3 spokeswomen representing India at Cannes! It is needless to say all eye balls will be stuck at the reigning queens of beauty and style who will be representing India at the international event. All three of them are unique in their own way so there is surely a lot we can expect to observe from their style to the fashion trends they establish at the Red Carpet this season. For Aishwarya this is her 10th year at the Cannes this time and Freida Pinto has already acquired a fair amount of recognition at the international level but for Sonam it is her first time at the Cannes. Sonam is undoubtedly one of the best dressed actresses in Bollywood or for that matter in the country and her fans can’t wait to see what she wears at the Cannes Red Carpet.
Ash has always stuck to her classy style and unique taste of clothes at the Cannes over the past years. But Sonam, who has been tagged the ‘most stylish’ by fashion experts in India, is sure expected to bring out something different.
Sonam Kapoor will dazzle at the Cannes Red Carpet on the 15th May and her fans are extremely curious to know what she will be wearing. Said a friend, "Sonam is all set to sport a vintage look at Cannes 2011. She swears by vintage clothing and she is thinking about sporting the 20’s & 50’s look. Also she won’t be wearing Indian clothes at the red carpet, no saris and no anarkalis for Sonam. She has few designers in mind like Valentino, Roberto Cavalli and Indian designers like Anamika Khanna and Masaba Gupta. She would be zeroing in on her final outfits soon."
Sonam Kapoor said, "It has always been my dream to walk the red carpet at Cannes and it is soon going to be a reality thanks to L’Oreal Paris. I look forward to meeting actors and film makers from the world over and attending screenings of some interesting films. But what excites me the most is meeting the L’Oreal Paris international dream team of make-up artistes and seeing how they transform me for one of the most glamorous red carpets in the world."
Television mogul Oprah Winfrey is set to make her longtime dream of appearing on Broadway come true after meeting with theatre producers to discuss her debut role. The talk show queen has always wanted to perform on stage in New York, but has been too busy with her self-titled TV talk show to commit to a production. The Oprah Winfrey Show is scheduled to end this year and the 57-year-old is already reading scripts and meeting with theatre bosses to make sure she can finally fulfil her Broadway ambitions. "I have a stack of plays in my bag right now that I am reading. And just this past weekend, I was in New York meeting with producers. We were just talking about what would be the best route to take. But yes, this is really going to happen. Life is too short. I think that an ensemble production is the way I should go," said Winfrey.
She also said she was desperate to join the cast of hit play ‘Fences’, which opened last year and won Denzel Washington a Tony Award, and she even considered moving her TV show from its production base Chicago, Illinois to New York to accommodate a stint.
"I had always wanted to do Fences. I went through the idea of trying to take my show to New York, shoot a show during the daytime and appear on Broadway at night. But I couldn’t do it. And finally, Kenny (Leon, director) said he couldn’t wait any longer," she added.

Duchess of Cambridge Catherine Middleton’s sister Pippa Middleton is the toast of paparazzi at the moment. Kate might have been the bride at the Royal wedding, but it was Pippa who stole all the limelight with her derriere contour making more news than the Bride and the Groom! The new interest in Pippa also brought about a few skeletons the brunette beauty may have been keeping in her closet. Pippa has been exposed partying in her bra and underwear. The Middleton family is said to be furious about the whole incident. And it is believed that Kate’s parents will take action over semi-nude pictures of Pippa which they think has been let out by ‘betrayed’ friends. Any photos or actions that may lead to the embarrassment or humiliation of the Royal family will not be tolerated – which could explain why the photos have been successfully stopped from circulation.
Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman, who is pregnant with her first child, has hinted she may quit acting to focus on her family life. The 29-year-old actress has spoken of her desire to emulate Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn, who left her movie career to begin a family. "Audrey made some good choices in life. More and more I realise how unimportant it is to be in the history books or anything like that. Putting time and energy into your children, that’s valuable," said Portman, who is engaged to choreographer Benjamin Millepied. The actress has often spoken about the emotionally draining experience of filming ‘Black Swan’, in which she played a psychotic prima ballerina in one of the most demanding roles of her career. Despite winning an Oscar for the role, Portman insisted it was a relief to begin work on her upcoming film, the more light-hearted ‘Thor’.
"It probably delayed the onset of a total breakdown from the efforts of doing Black Swan, which is going to hit at any moment. We got nice long breaks and I got to read in my trailer which was very comfortable and has a bed. I could eat whenever I wanted and train whenever I felt like it".

‘Modern Family’ star Sofia Vergara has again posed with a perfectly placed milk moustache in a new poster for the campaign, to encourage people to drink more dairy. This is the second time the 38-year-old star has starred as a poster girl for the campaign. Vergara had also made news last month when she starred in the Diet Pepsi television commercial in a sizzling blue swimsuit beach alongside David Beckham.
Mexican actress, director and producer Salma Hayek’s first beauty line, which is set to launch at 7,000 CVS Pharmacy stores nationwide from August, is expected to make 35million dollars in its first year alone. The star has taken the past three years off from acting to focus on the development of the 100-product range of cosmetics, called Nuance Salma Hayek. The range, which comprises everything from make-up to anti-ageing skincare, also includes some rather less predictable products, such as a Correcting Spot Treatment 10perdent Sulfur Acne Treatment. But though the range will have a budget price point (from 7.99 dollars-19.99 dollars) the formulations, the ‘Frida’ star said, will rival anything at the top of the market.
“It is possible to create extraordinary product for a low price. Everyone should have the right product at the right price,” said Salma at an event to launch the line.
“A lot of products don’t even cost a lot to make. I wanted to make simply the best product and give everyone access to the good stuff,” she said.
The mother-of-one, who is married to PPR boss Francois-Henri Pinault, said that her grandmother, a cosmetologist who was an advocate of Native American and Mayan formulations, inspired the line.

Mendes will feature in Pantene’s Breakage to Strength collection, while Watts will be seen in Flat to Volume range. Both will appear in their respective ads from July onwards. Each look was natural and never manipulated and my hair looked healthy and beautiful for every shot," said Mendes.

India is the third worst place to be in for mothers among ‘77 less developed countries’, said a report by an NGO.
India climbed down two positions to the 75th position among 77 less developed countries in the ‘Mother’s Index’ report, said NGO Save the Children.
The 12th annual report, released as a prelude to the Mother’s Day Sunday, ranks the state of mothers worldwide by studying the performance of women on indices such as maternal mortality rate, percentage of women using modern contraception, female life expectancy at birth, educational status of women, healthcare received by pregnant women, post-natal care and participation of women in government, among others.
"India steps down from 73rd position to 75th on the scale of ‘best place to be a mother’ from the index of year 2010 among 77 less developed countries," the report said.
The report divided the study in three sections – ‘more developed countries’, ‘less developed countries’ and ‘least developed countries’.
"Maternal health is still too low on India’s priority list that is reflected in our spending on the health sector. Manpower crunch and lack of awareness are some of the other problems responsible for the maternal deaths," said Shireen Vakil Miller, director of advocacy and policy at Save the Children in India.
Aparajita Gogoi, national coordinator of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, said: "Accountability is greatly missing in all our policies for maternal health. You have some of the best policy frameworks in the national rural health mission (NHRM), but then there is poor implementation and zero accountability."
While Norway, Australia and Iceland top the list of ‘43 more developed countries’, Afghanistan ranks last among the ‘42 least developed countries’.
The 10 bottom ranked countries among ‘less developed countries’ include eight sub-Saharan African nations and Yemen.
"On an average, one woman in 30 will die from pregnancy-related causes. One child in six dies before his or her fifth birthday and one child in three suffers from malnutrition in less developed countries," the report said.

Business tycoon Ratan Rata plans to foray into entertainment production once again. His first stint at film production didn’t do well. Reportedly, Tata financed Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Aetbaar’ in 2004, but the film fell flat at the Box Office. But now, Ratan Tata wants to make a comeback with a multi-pronged business plan with the idea of not only funding film projects but also Broadway style musicals. Sources confirm that Ratan’s team has already met a few filmmakers and is also in talks with talents who can make edgy, emotional musicals. An industry insider revealed, " The Tatas are once again open to projects. They’ve met a couple of filmmakers, and these meetings have created quite a buzz in the industry, which is always looking at producers with deep pockets. One of the projects that they are considering is titled ‘Nano’."
As far as the grand musical is concerned, Ratan Tata is in touch with a couple of musicians of Indian origin to make a sensitive, close-to-home Bollywood-style musical for the masses. This venture will make Tatas the first Indian company to have ever funded a lavish and big budget musical, which will be staged globally.
The scripting is currently on. Ratan is looking to rope in an exciting young talent for this. It is expected that the company has earmarked big budgets for their plans the announcement of which will be made soon after the group’s succession issue and it’s battle with 2G scam ends.
Meanwhile, there is widescale anticipation in the film industry with a big player like the Tatas returning to the entertainment space.
French First Lady Carla Bruni is pregnant with twins at the age of 43. The former Italian supermodel has been at the centre of frenzied media speculation this week that she is expecting her first child with President Nicolas Sarkozy. Showbiz magazine ‘Voici’ claims she is expecting twins in October. The latest claims came even though Bruni - who is also said to have given up smoking - had refused to directly comment on queries about pregnancy, adding more fuel to the recent rumours that she is expecting. When asked directly if she was pregnant during the interview with leading French newspaper ‘Le Parisien’, she said she would "remain tight-lipped about that to protect something"." If you’ll allow me, I’d rather not answer these questions about my family. I am remaining tight- lipped about that to protect something," Bruni said. She had also cited her 56-year-old husband’s career as a reason not to discuss her pregnancy. "Around 180 per cent of the time my husband is dealing with his country. He only talks about that. He does nothing else. He’s obsessed by that."
Bruni added: "In addition, I’m very talkative. But then, I’m kind of lips sealed. Not out of arrogance or out of a taste for secrecy. My lips are sealed to protect something and to protect all the work he does."
It’s not even to protect my privacy, which is also a curious little term. I would love to talk, but after it takes the entire space. And it involves other people." In fact, the first claims of a pregnancy emerged in France’s Closer magazine last week.
News magazine ‘VSD’ then said the claims had been confirmed in off-the-record remarks by a senior aide to President Sarkozy. The President’s communication chief at Elysee Palace, Franck Louvrier, has refused to confirm the rumours. "This is a subject that is none of my business."

Scarlett Johansson looks more like her usual curvy self in the latest Mango advert for the clothing stores summer collection after accusations of airbrushing in the last one. The 26 year old, The ‘Lost In Translation’ star, looks moody in a striped sundress - but at least her legs look like her own. Last month, she raised eyebrows when another picture from the Spanish high street chain showed her with thighs distinctly thinner than sported by the actress in real life. Similar to her last Mango ad, Scarlett’s stomach appears completely flat, compared to in reality. The airbrushing rumours were sparked more so because unflattering pictures emerged of her working out with Sean Penn, after which she was forced to deny pregnancy rumours.
After those pictures, her spokesman said: “Scarlett is not pregnant. She’s outside running and it’s simply the placement of her shirt that is misleading.” She’s been training for her forthcoming new movie, The Avengers, for over four months and is in the best shape of her life,” he added.
British beauty Kate Winslet has replaced Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie as the face of fashion brand St John. The ‘Titanic’ star has already posed for a series of advertising images which will appear in magazines next season onwards. Jolie who was the face of the brand for five years was replaced because she "overshadowed the brand". Winslet has been a face of Lancome since 2007 and became a brand ambassador for Swiss watchmaker Longines last year. Though St John said that the end of Jolie’s tenure was amicable, sources claim that the star "had issues" with the dresses she was required to wear.

Debutant actress Akshara Gowda, who was recently linked to cricketer Yuvraj Singh, has threatened to sue filmmaker Suneet Arora for allegedly leaking her bold love making scenes and songs from her film ‘Chitkabrey’. The newcomer had surprisingly opted not to take part in the promotional activities of her debut film and has accused Arora for maligning her modesty.Akshara essays the role of a high class homemaker, who loves splurging on herself. She dared to bare her all in her very first flick by agreeing to do steamy scenes with co-actor Rajesh Shringapurey. Arora said, "I’m saddened by Akshara’s attitude and I never imagined that she would refuse to promote the film, which is so dear to me. For me, she is just one of the characters because my film is about seven couples. And thankfully, all of them are promoting the film and believe in it. I’m sure that once the film becomes a huge hit, she will realize her folly and come back to our Chitkabrey family".
Ironically, the girl who is now accusing the director of tampering her image did not have qualms going toplezz while shooting."During the love making scene, she insisted on taking off her clothes to look real and gave fantastic expressions", Arora said.
Actresses at some point in their career turn to experiment with other business opportunities. Lara Dutta recently turned into a producer also actress Amisha Patel launched her own production house. Similarly some of them have gone into the restraint business such as Shilpa Shetty. But the Bachchan Bahu as always has an idea which stands out from everyone else. She wants to launch her signature fashion line like many Hollywood celebrities. Said a source, "A few years ago, Ash was approached by some fashion houses abroad to be the face of their brand, or be associated with them at some level, but she had declined. Now, some big names from Europe are looking at a partnership with her. However, it is unclear if Ash will go for a joint venture or launch her own fashion line. She is keen to launch her exclusive fashion line that will travel globally. Whether it will it be prêt or haute couture, or Indian or Western is still up in the air."
Aishwarya confirmed, "I have plans. I have a multiple connected idea and it’s something I will definitely get into. I’ve wanted to do this for a decade, but I had put my plans on a backburner, and now I better get my act together. I always want to give my hundred per cent and more to everything that I do. There was so much happening around me that I had kept it on hold."
