Ekta Kapoor shows Rakhi Sawant the door
After the brouhaha Rakhi Sawant created about the alleged rigging of results on STAR Plus' dance show Nach Baliye 3 and her questioning the 'role' of Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms in the final result, Balaji has decided to drop Rakhi from their first awards function on Jan 25 that is likely to be held at Dubai.

When asked, Ekta told IANS: 'I wouldn't really know the details of the show since they are being handled by Bunty Wallia and the Moranis. But yes, if my company has taken a policy decision, I am with them.'

'Rakhi was being offered a place in our first awards function. No, she wasn't going to dance but she was going to host one segment of the show. But after she has been making wild and totally unfounded allegations against Ekta, accusing her of favouring Aamir and Sanjida, Balaji has decided to drop Rakhi from their awards function,' said a Balaji source.

Ekta's awards function is likely to be held in Dubai. According to sources, Shah Rukh Khan has finally said yes to a performance at what promises to be one of the biggest live events.

Shah Rukh will be accompanied by none other than the Balaji breakaway bahu Smriti Irani.

'The idea is to set aside all rancour, to disprove stories about the ill-will generated by our actors who move out of Balaji. So it isn't just Smriti who's being invited to perform, we're also asking Iqbal Khan and Rajiv Khandelwal to join us on Jan 25,' said the source.

While the Moranis will be organising Shah Rukh's performance, the rest of the event will be handled by Bunty Walia's company. source

Miley Cyrus Upset Over Leaked Photos
For those who think there's something scandalous going on in the photos circulating online of Miley Cyrus frolicking with a friend on a hotel floor, the "Hannah Montana" star has a message for you --" get over it.

"They're nothing bad!" the 15-year-old teen sensation told New York's Z100 radio station on Friday night.

The candid photos, which have been making the rounds online, show Miley sitting on the floor of a hotel with one of her friends getting close, goofing around and sharing a piece of candy.

But Miley maintains the snapshots are completely innocent.

"There was nothing wrong with it. It's two girls at a sleepover. And if all of a sudden that's bad, then what is the world coming to?" a frustrated Miley told Z100's Niko prior to her sold-out concert at Nassau Coliseum on Friday night.

And while the young pop star might be used to all the attention, what really upsets her is that now her friend in the photo has to deal with the unwanted attention as well.

"Honestly, I just try to keep my cool. At first, I was really upset. It really sucks to be honest. It was a friend of mine that's a normal girl and " look at me getting all upset " the worst part is she has to go to school and deal with that crap," Miley continued. "I have to deal with that anyways. I deal with it all the time."

She called the blonde girl in the photos with her "one of my best friends."

So although Miley certainly isn't letting any of the gossip get in her way, it's not something she's taking lightly.

"What I decided before I came out to L.A. and started working was the minute I didn't have fun was the minute I go home. I don't want to go home, and I don't want to not do what I do, because I love it, but this... it's Satan attacking and it's just one more thing I have to deal with. But it's not something that I'm going to let slide because I really am upset about it," she concluded.

Happy Birthday to The Bad Guy of Bollywood with Good Heart
The year 1965 surely had plans for Indian cinema as it saw the birth of three Khans, who went on to become the superstar trinity and achieved stardom like none other. And December 27 happens to be the birthday of the youngest of them all – Salman Khan.
Often considered the 'Bad boy of B town', Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan was born far away from Mumbai in Indore, to acclaimed scriptwriter Salim Khan and his first wife Salma Khan.

Salman Khan came to achieve accolades for his very first film as a hero, Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989 and walked away with the best debut performance award that year. (He had appeared in a side role a year before that in the movie Biwi Ho To Aisi and had got noticed for his looks.) Since then Salman has given the industry some of the biggest hits in the last two decades, which include Hum Aapke Hai Koun!, Saajan, Andaz Apna Apna, Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, Biwi No 1, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and No Entry.

In fact, the first blockbuster hit of 2007 was also a Salman starrer, Partner. "He is still the star, but he did have two bad films - Marigold and Saawariya. Saawariya, of course, was not really his film," says trade analyst Taran Adarsh, adding that perhaps the stronghold no more remains.

But like in the recent past, this year too Salman Khan stayed in news for more reasons off camera than on it. The year started off with speculations of his marriage with girlfriend Katrina Kaif. The rumours were given fire due to an insider letting out that Salman planned to get married two days before old flame Aishwarya tied the knot. Hence his marriage was expected anytime between February and April, when Ash actually got hitched. The rumours were, however, proved false as no such thing took place in the personal front.

In the meantime, Salman was making news for something else too – his charity foundation. Known for his large heartedness, Khan set up the Salman Khan Foundation to give help to the poor and needy. He even donated the money he won at the special episode of KBC 3 to this trust. Salman also turned an artist around the same time and started auctioning his works to earn money for the foundation. He, in fact, earned an astounding Rs 1 crore for one of his works, thanks to his celebrity status, putting him right on the A-list.
Salman found a unique way to fund his charity foundation by asking his fans and everyone else to contribute a rupee each for the cause. "I as an individual cannot raise a lot of money. What I want everyone to do is contribute Re 1 every day from their salary so that we can get Rs 365 from each person in a year. In fact, if the person contributing that rupee is ever in need himself for treatment for cancer and cannot afford it, we will fund his medical care too," Salman had told us in an interview.

His generosity was also witnessed by fellow actors and especially Govinda, who got a fresh lease of life to his career, courtesy Salman Khan. The actor-cum-politician had almost seen the end of his acting life, but Salman helped him when no one else did. "After a series of flops and a bad political career, when I was completely down and out from the film industry and had no work, Salman bailed me out. There cannot be a better friend than Salman, who is always there in your time of need," Govinda had admitted in one of his interviews.
Salman probably understood what it is like to go through a bad phase as he had himself gone through a rough patch post his break up with Ash. Whether it be his unfriendly tango with Vivek Oberoi, the slew of flops or reckless driving in a drunken stupor, Salman trawled a hellish path for a while.
Leaving the dark shades behind, this year saw Salman crossing over to the international stage with the so-called Hollywood film Marigold directed by American filmmaker Willard Carroll. The film failed, but Salman soon won the chance to get his wax statue placed at Madame Tussauds. He was, apparently, selected from among the likes of Hrithik Roshan, Madhuri Dixit and Lata Mangeshkar. Khan, however, took sometime before giving his approval for the statue, which will finally be unveiled in February 2008.

However, as usual, there was more harassment coming his way as the Jaipur High Court found him guilty and sentenced him to five years of imprisonment. Salman surrendered and had to stay in jail for almost a week before getting a bail and continuing with his work. And soon after he came out of jail, reports started pouring in about strains in his relationship with Katrina.
Salman is allegedly not really happy about Katrina working with Akshay Kumar in most of her films. Our sources had also given us dope on a fight between the two at the sets of God Tussi Great Ho, where Kat had gone visiting Salman. While the damsel continues to deny any problems in their paradise, the reports keep flowing in. To top it all, sources say that Katrina might not be alongside Salman for his birthday bash at his farmhouse in Panvel as she doesn't want to travel 50 kms out of Mumbai!

While 2007 nears an end, rumours on his myriad problems don't seem to rest. The latest being Sanjay Leela Bhansali saying 'no' to his project Veer. Sources say that Salman had taken the script to Bhansali, but the director refused and consequently, the actor roped in Anil Sharma.

But even as things keep going wrong, Salman Khan refuses to show a crease of worry on his forehead. As he readies to celebrate his birthday with family and friends, here's wishing him better luck, lesser controversies and bigger hits in the coming years. Cheers! source

Police to probe Rakhi Sawant's charges against Star TV
Mumbai Police's Crime Branch will investigate Rakhi Sawant's complaint against private television channel Star TV's reality dance show, Nach Baliye.

In-charge of Oshiwara police station Dilip Patil said that Rakhi and her choreographer Abhishekh Awasthi submitted a joint written complaint, alleging malpractices by the channel.

'We have accepted the complaint but not yet registered a case,' Patil told IANS Tuesday. A police team will go into all aspects of the matter before deciding whether it merits further proceedings, including a formal police case, he emphasized.

Patil also made it clear this was a 'non-priority' matter and would be probed in the routine course. 'There are far bigger issues of importance than this, so we shall deploy our men as per the merits of the case,' he pointed out.

Last Saturday, well-known TV actress Sanjeeda Shaikh and her choreographer Aamir Ali were declared winners of the third Nach Baliye reality dance show.

Accordind to Rakhi:
Abhishek emerged the runners-up in the show, which attracted 11 celeb couples this year for the competition which went on for four months.

Soon after Bollywood megastar Salman Khan announced the winners, Rakhi started crying and walked off the stage with Abhishek.

Addressing mediapersons Tuesday, Rakhi and Abhishek levelled several accusations against the channel, including tampering with SMS votes, indulging in software manipulation, etc.

'We knew hours before the results that we had lost,' claimed Rakhi and Abhishek.

The duo alleged that if the police do not investigate this 'cyber crime', such frauds will never stop. Rakhi also pleaded with the Mumbai police to act as 'Santa' and initiate action against the channel and the show organisers.

Sanjeeda is the vamp sister in the popular Star Plus serial, Kayamath. After bagging the Nach Baliye crown, which included a Rs.2.50 million cash award plus other benefits, she has been catapulted into the top league of TV stars. source

Aishwarya’s Marriage has Created Problems in her Professional Life
Aishwarya's marriage to Abhishek has created problems in her professional life, especially with a certain light-eyed actor.

Industry watchers had predicted after Aishwarya Rai's marriage to Abhishek Bachchan that there will be problems in her professional life. Especially where a certain light-eyed actor is concerned. The speculations seem to be coming true, with Ash and Hrithik Roshan sharing vibes that could bring snowfall to the sets of Ashutosh Gowariker's magnum opus Jodhaa Akbar. Much controversy was generated when the two shared a lip lock in Dhoom 2. But now, little things about Ash seem to irk Hrithik.

"There would be lots of visitors for Ash and both Ashutosh and Hrithik didn't like it," a mole said. Though Ashutosh grinned and bore it, Hrithik made his displeasure pretty obvious. "Also, Ash sometimes took time in her vanity van and made Hrithik wait for shoots. So she got cold glares from him," added the source. So much so that the actor didn't even bother offering the actress a ride on the helicopter he hired to commute to Karjat and back. Well, at least AB's baby doesn't have to worry about Hrithik anymore.

Starring newcomer Harman Baweja and directed by Ajit Pal, the film will also feature some Australian stars, like paceman Brett Lee.

Madhuri is Bridging Eras, says Anil Mehta
It wasn't easy to direct Madhuri Dixit in her comeback film, but director Anil Mehta thanks the actress for making it a smooth ride for him.

'She's such an easygoing person. She never let me get stressed about making Madhuri Dixit's comeback film. She was willing to give all of herself,' Mehta told IANS in an interview.

'She's still in equally splendid form. And she's bridging eras. She not only represents the kind of films that were made in the 1980s, but also cinema of today where she has a prominent place. It was such an asset to have her on the sets,' he added.

Mehta placed 'Aaja Nachle' in a small town because big cities don't fascinate him.

'I told Aditya Chopra of an idea about a small town setting. Those big urban fables don't interest me. The film may look lavish because of the dances. But I've kept the treatment very simple.' –adds Mehta.

Excerpts from the interview:
Q: The small-town ambience in 'Aaja Nachle' is splendid.
A: We created it on a set in Mumbai and if people thought it was a location that's a big compliment. I went on a 20-day recce, checked out towns like Bhopal and Indore. Lots of real construction material was used on the sets. We wove in the chaos and confusion of a small town into our fictional town.

Q: Did Madhuri come into the picture before or after you wrote the script?
A: It's a bit of a chicken-and-egg thing. The idea was floating in my head. Then Madhuri was cast and the story just flowed from there.

Q: Did Madhuri make it any easier for you?
A: She's such an easygoing person. She never let me get stressed about making Madhuri Dixit's comeback film. She was willing to give all of herself.

Q: The last image we have of Madhuri is as Chandramukhi in 'Devdas'.
A: She's still in equally splendid form. And she's bridging eras. She not only represents the kind of films that were made in the 1980s, but also cinema of today where she has a prominent place. It was such an asset to have her on the sets. Right now I'm this lady's biggest fan.

Q: Did you ever anticipate furore over a line in a song?
A: Not at all. If you look at the spirit of the film, it isn't about discrimination, it's about the participation of people from all walks of life.

Q: My objection to 'Aaja Nachle' is that the dances in the film do not represent our traditional culture.
A: Please define culture. It varies from person to person. The film is more about those cultural spaces where people can come together. My film wasn't aimed at propagating a purist culture. It's about bringing people from different walks of life for one endeavour. I didn't want to define culture.

Q: The long staged Laila-Majnu climax seems homage to traditional Indian theatre.
A: I'm sure even theatre purists will find complaints against it. Even as a play is staged there's cinema seeping into the sequence. But yes, again I wanted to depict a participative spirit. In college I've dabbled in theatre.

Q: You're known to do work only now and then.
A: That's why I moved from Mumbai to Bangalore. I wanted to live peacefully. But somehow I've worked at my own pace. I was fighting shy of direction for long. One day when I was shooting 'Veer-Zaara' Aditya Chopra asked me if I wanted to direct. I've kept the treatment very simple.

Q: Why did you choose to hand over the cinematography to someone else?
A: I purposely made that choice. You've to be very talented to do both direction and cinematography. When I took Mohanan on, I let him interpret my vision from the start. The whole business of direction is so all consuming, I left all others aspects of the film to others. Cinema to me is about collaboration with everyone including choreographer who in this case is very important. I'd always insist on getting a cinematographer on board when I'm directing.

Q: What would your next directorial assignment be?
A: I haven't given it any thought. Even as a cinematographer I never planned to take on another project before finishing the one I was doing. I intend to do the same as a director. After 'Aaja Nachle' it's my time to hibernate. source
Shah Rukh Khan becomes Crazy
It seems Rakesh Roshan's next production "Krazzy 4" is making more news for its item numbers and guest appearances than its main cast. While Rakhi Sawant is already in the list to do an item number, it was also declared that Hrithik Roshan would also make an appearance. And now they seem to have got bigger with none other than Shah Rukh Khan.

Sources say that Rakesh Roshan had approached King Khan to make an appearance in the film. But it seems to be more than a mere appearance. Apparently, Shah Rukh was asked to do an item number in the film along with Hrithik. Roshans wanted Shah Rukh to do the item number and the star has also given his consent to it. The song will be shot when Hrithik is more comfortable with his knee.

Shah Rukh has been repeatedly saying these days that he is unemployed for the next few months and has no films in hand. That's apart from his cameo in Vivek Vaswani's Dulha Mil Gaya, which stars Fardeen Khan and Sushmita Sen. "We have some portion with him. That we will shoot when the whole cast is ready," Vivek had said recently.

Under such circumstances, getting the dates from SRK won't be a problem. And he might as well return a favour to the Roshans who had made an appearance in his movie. Also, Shah Rukh has acted in two of Rakesh's movies – Karan Arjun and Koyla – and share a nice rapport with him. He had also worked with Hrithik in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. In fact, Hrithik had assisted father Rakesh in Koyla and knows the Badshah since then.

"The sets are being put up and they are pretty excited about it," said the source. However, Roshan senior did try to play it safe as of now. "Nothing's confirmed yet. But he may do it," he said. Hrithik, in the meantime, is back from Singapore and is resting his body.

Krazzy 4, a comedy, stars Arshad Warsi, Irrfan Khan, Juhi Chawla and Rajpal Yadav and is directed by Jaideep Sen, who earlier assisted Roshan. It should also be noted here that Shah Rukh has earlier done an item number in Karan Johar's Kaal.

Katrina’s Skirt Lengh is not Salman’s Business
There were reports of the Salman Khan being upset with Katrina Kaif for wearing short skirts for the promos of her latest film, Welcome. But Director Anees Bazmee has scotched rumours and has dismissed it as loose talk.

Bazmee insists that Salman is like a good friend of his and is sure that if he was truly upset he would have definitely spoken to him about it.

Bazmee has worked with Salman in No Entry and says that the actor never interefered in that film as well. The only time that he came to the sets of Welcome was when Bazmee wanted to narrate a story to him.

He says that he would love to make a love story starring his favourites Ajay Devgan and Kajol. At the moment he is all primed for the release of Welcome, which takes a funny look at the mafia.

Sameera Reddy is the hidden USP of RACE
DHOOM-2 was a blockbuster hit last year which was not only talked about for it's breathtaking action, but also for its lead artists like Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu.

However, it was the dusky Bengali beauty, Bipasha Basu who really wooed the audience with her surprising double role. Her second role that of a sexy dumb bimbette, went down very well with the viewers, who yearned for more.

It's obvious that Bipasha cannot do the same thing over and over again. But no need to despair, as we have an equally deserving name, with almost similar curriculum vitae to boast of! No more suspense, we are talking about another sultry beauty, Sameera Reddy, who will be seen holding her own, against the likes of Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif, in Abbas-Mustan's upcoming thriller, RACE.

As the sources say, the dusky Southern beauty Sameera Reddy's surprising bimbette act is one of the hidden USP's of RACE. To give an approximate account of her act, its almost similar to Bipasha's role, that of a dumb, glam doll in DHOOM-2. In case there is any confusion, Sameera's role can also be equated to the lovable dumb secretary, 'Kitty', played by Sushmita Mukherjee, in Pankaj Kapoor's cult detective serial, KARAMCHAND.
WELCOME all set to be welcomed
WELCOME, featuring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Feroz Khan, Paresh Rawal and Mallika Sherawat is all set to hit the silver screen on December 21.

It’s a comedy movie produced by Firoz Nadiadwala under the banner of Base Industries Group through Studio 18. Anees Bazmee is the director and story writer of the film who has proved his comic skills in the movies like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and No Entry. The melodious music of the film has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya and Anand Raj Anand.

One of the most remarkable point about this movie is that Anil Kapoor has designed his own look in this multi-starrer comedy.

He is essaying Katrina Kaif's serio-comic don brother in the first half after which he falls for Mallika Sherawat's character in the second half of the film.

"As there is a complete change in my life once the girl walks in, my clothes change colour from black to bright red as well," laughs Anil. He adds, "It's true that I've chosen my own clothes. It was a pain to have to shop so much though.”

Anil has planned and selected his entire look himself.
