Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi music hits top spots
The music of the Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is climbing to the top spot in the music charts.

“When we put in a lot of hardwork to make our music we hope that the audience will like our music. We are very happy that people are enjoying the music,” said Salim and Suleiman, music directors of the movie.

“We made the song on Surinder Sahani’s character,” said Jaideep Sahni the lyricist. Sahni says the music is inspired by the characters in the film. From the music to the lyrics there is attention in every detail.

SRK’s transformation from the comically awkward man next door to the man with the right moves has only added to the charm. “We composed the songs according to the mood and flavor of the script narrated by Aditya Chopra”, said Jaideep Sahni.

“If songs that are composed according to the script become a hit, it is bound to make us happy,” said Salim Suleiman, music director.

Music is usually the first step to any film’s success. If the music translates into popularity, success will become easy for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Next Female Akshay Kumar aka Deepika Padukone

Don’t get shocked to see Deepika in a completely new look. Deepika Padukone dons a new, Chinese look for her new movie Chandni Chowk to China.

The lady boldly claims that she is the female Akshay Kumar of tinsel town. In her own words, “I would like to be called Next Female Akshay Kumar”.

What say Katrina?

It seems miss Padukone is too impressed by Mr. Akshay Khiladi Kumar, or it could just be an strategy to promote Chandni Chowk To China.

There comes one question in mind. Why not saying herself, “Next Female Shahrukh Khan?”

Has Deepika decided to carry on projects with Akshay Kumar?
Isn’t she interested to grab projects with the Badshah of Bollywood aka Shahrukh Khan?
Kareena endorses Kurkure
Kareena has been brought onboard as the new face for PepsiCo Snack Foods, particularly for its famous product Kurkure. However, Juhi Chawla who has been associated with the brand Kurkure for nearly five years will continue to be the face of the brand. Juhi and Kareena would together look at endorsing the entire portfolio, though the details haven't been chalked out.

Kareena, being the face of the young, Gen-Next India has been roped in to promote 'Kurkure Desi Beats'. In fact the TVC has Kareena playing a character similar to popular story book character 'Cinderella'. She is shown as the maid of the house, while her stepsisters have all the fun. The 'desi' twist in the story is when singer Ila Arun comes to the rescue as her godmother. She offers Kareena a packet of 'Kurkure Desi Beats' to spice up her life. The Englishmen and her stepsisters are having a boring dance, when 'desi' girl Kareena arrives in Indian attire and adds the much needed spark to the party. The ad film ends with the tagline - 'No Fun, Without Desipann'.

Only time will prove if Kareena is able to bring in her charisma to keep Brand Kurkure rocking.

Katrina has proved all critics wrong
Five years into Bollywood, Britain-born actress Katrina Kaif is proud that she could prove wrong all those people who wrote her off during her initial days in the industry. She is one of the few actresses who can boast of giving six hits in a row.

Katrina was emphatic when she spoke of her belief in destiny.

'The great thing about life is that you never know what can happen and there's no limitation to it. Someone can tell you that you can never be this and never be that. It's not true. Anyone can be what he wants to be and destiny plays a major part in it. God has of course been very kind to me.
'I believe that everyone should try and live their dreams, follow them and they might just come true someday,' Katrina said.

From her disastrous debut with 'Boom' in 2003 to five hits in a row in 2007, the 24-year-old has not only worked hard on her acting skills, she has also shown a marked improvement in her Hindi dialogue delivery.

Katrina is in the news nowadays for having delivered one box office dud 'Yuvvraaj' after delivering six back-to-back hits including 'Namastey London', 'Apne', 'Partner', 'Welcome', 'Race' and 'Singh Is Kinng'.

After so many hits, she was tagged as a lucky mascot for producers by trade pundits, but the actress is not pleased with the 'lucky' label.

''Lucky mascot' doesn't make any sense. It is such an illogical statement. A successful film is a combination of a good director, good music, intelligent script, good timing, destiny, everybody's efforts and audience's reaction. There isn't a reason or an explanation that you can tag a person as lucky,' she remarked.

In her career, Katrina has predominantly dabbled in comedies, but she has lately 'felt the need to progress a bit' and try her hand at different things.

As of now, Katrina has a number of films in her kitty.

She is doing two films with Ranbir Kapoor including 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani' by Rajkumar Santoshi. She is also working with Prakash Jha on his multi-starrer 'Rajniti'.

The November issue of People magazine has Karan Johar on the cover. And even before you get any kind of ideas about his 'confessions', then let us play the spoilsport by saying NO... Karan has not spoken on his sexual preferences. And even though 'People' tried to take up the forbidden route, the normally calm Karan suddenly becomes 'Current Johar' and answers, "That's not for you to know and not for me to reveal. My personal life will always be my personal life". Not just that, you can find the ever-so-charming Karan share his views on his family, his background (how he had almost landed up in France and what made him stop), his very closet friends and of course, the icing on the cake...you guessed it right...the one and only SRK!!!

Shah Rukh Khan to be honoured with Datuk title
Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan is set to be conferred the Malaysian title of “Datuk”, akin to the British knighthood, on December 6 and he is expected to receive the honour in traditional Malaysian attire.

The traditional Malaysian black costume with a waistband, a songkok and a black cap is the official attire to receive the award from the Malaccan royal chief, Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob.

Khan is to be presented with an award from southern Malacca state, which carries the title “Datuk”, equivalent to a British knighthood, after a 2001 film set in Malacca boosted its profile as a tourist destination.

He was to receive the award on 29 November but state officials postponed the event last week.
About 1,000 invitees will witness the ceremony. SRK is scheduled to be in Malaysia for three days.

His being conferred the Datuk title had stirred up much controversy with many questioning whether he really deserves it. Critics had asked what Shah Rukh had done for Malaysia to deserve a Datukship. They also took up cudgels on behalf of local artistes.

Malaccan authorities, however, say Shah Rukh’s shoot of ‘One 2 Ka 4’ in Malaysia had benefited the country immensely, giving it global publicity without any money being spent.

Malaysia has an estimated 2.6 million ethnic Indians and Indian Films are very popular there.

Priyanka Chopra features in November issue of Blender

The lady in question is not just 'merely' out of this world, but she is a Miss World herself. Well, ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for the one and only Priyanka Chopra, who has beaten, not just the 'blacks', but also the 'blues', to be the 'Numero Uno' artist in the newly launched supercool music magazine 'Blender'.

All this while we had known Priyanka as the actress and the heart-warming eye-candy. But the super-enthusiastic guys at 'Blender' have portrayed her as a performer and this 'portrayal' has put Priyanka Chopra in the top spot, thus surpassing greats like Metallica, Kareena Kapoor, Mariah Carey and Amy Winehouse (it's a global compilation, you see).

Sometimes, we wonder if Lady Luck herself must be jealous of Priyanka's Luck! With the recent back-to-back smash hits like Fashion and Dostana, can life get any better for this babe? Way to go, Priyanka!!
Tara Sharma co-stars with Vivek Oberoi
Tara Sharma has been seen in quite a few interesting films such as Masti, Page 3 and Khosla Ka Ghosla to name a few. However, post Khosla Ka Ghosla, Tara hasn't had a single release barring her cameo act in Heyy Babyy. Now the chirpy actress is all set to be seen in a variety of roles in the coming months.

Tara has in fact been signed by none other than Dharma Productions for their Saif- Kareena-Vivek starrer which Rensil D'silva will be directing. An excited Tara says, "Yes, I am doing Rensil's film. I got a call from the casting and production team at Dharma Productions. They asked me to go through the script. I read the script and really liked my role. The film is a political thriller and I am paired opposite Vivek Oberoi. It's not a very big role but it's definitely interesting and pivotal to the story. Moreover, I didn't want to miss out on a chance working with such a reputed banner. I am looking forward to start shooting for the film end of next month."

December will also see the release of her long awaited film Maharathi, where she stars alongside stalwarts such as Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri etc. "Yes I am really excited that Maharathi is finally releasing. I play this nerdy, gawky architecture student who is quite a mysterious character. It's not a conventional glamorous role; in fact I go completely de-glam for this role. Till the end, the audience doesn't know if she is good or bad. I really had a wonderful time working with actors like Pareshji, Naseer saab and Om Puri. The energy, enthusiasm and passion which they have for their craft is something which people even half their age don't have. Pareshji has directed the play on which the film is based and most of my scenes in the film are with him so he was always there providing valuable inputs which really helped me", says the actress.

After Maharathi, Tara has Ashok Amritraj's The Other End of The Line with Jesse Metcalfe and Shriya Saran. It's released in the States and should be out here early next year. Then she has a film called Suno Na in which she plays a pregnant single woman. The film has a socially relevant message and is directed by a lady director - Ami Thanawala. She has also just finished a film called Mocktail which is a comedy starring Rajat Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, Koel Purie and Tara. Besides two of her films- The Whisperers and Amavas have been ready for release a while ago.
Kareena Kapoor says no to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown
Kareena Kapoor left on Sunday night to shoot in the below-freezing temperature in Philadelphia. Kareena is so excited about shooting this film produced by Karan Johar that she has said no to a special invitation from the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

"It was a huge honour. I was the only invitee from Bollywood and it always feels great to represent our country. It was an invitation from the British House Of Commons to visit the Prime Minister. But if I had gone Karan Johar's dates would've suffered."

"What to do?" sighs the overworked Diva as she gathered her wits and clothes for her imminent departure. "I don't have the time. Besides, the invitation came too late....my fault. They couldn't access me, so they finally had to get to me through my father. By then, it was too late for me to accommodate a flying visit to the House Of Commons for this uncommon honour."

Happy Birthday to Celina Jaitley
If there's one word that does total justice to this lady's overall persona, then it has to be 'Gifted'. God has blessed her with eyes that speak volumes of love, hair that's enough to give the Rapunzels of the world an inferiority complex, lips that are an inspiration to a million architects, smile that can launch a thousand ships, skin tone that has the best of glaciers melting itself down...well, the list is practically endless! The 'gifted' lady in question is none other than Bollywood's very own Celina Jaitley, who also happens to be today's Birthday Girl!

With her father and brother serving the army and her mother being a child psychologist, punctuality and duty comes natural to this enviable beauty! Little do people know that, post her graduation this Bombshell had lent her expertise by working in a cell phone company in Kolkata! We are sure of the fact that the said company's sales must have rocketed every single day! Soon after that, it was Bollywood calling for this ex-Miss India! With films like Janasheen, No Entry, Apna Sapna Money Money, Tom Dick and Harry, Zinda etc... to her credit, there is just one way for this beauty...up and only up!

Here are B'day Wishes to Celina!!!
39th International Film Festival of India begins at Goa
The 39th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2008 began in Panaji on Saturday. The festival has witnessed unprecedented participation with almost 6000 delegates having registered for the 10-day fest.

This year, tickets have been distributed to the common people thus ensuring the burgeoning numbers.

The 11-day festival showing nearly 200 Indian and foreign films from 12 countries was inaugurated by veteran actor Rekha.

Goa Governor S. S. Siddhu, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Anand Sharma attended the opening ceremony, compered by actor Amrita Rao.

Mr. Sharma highlighted the role of Indian cinema in connecting with the masses. “Cinema connects civilizations, continents and cultures,” he said, hailing it for stemming divisive tendencies in the country.

Ms. Rekha called it “the best film festival in the world”, even referring to Goa as “a home away from home and a future home” for her.

The festival opened with the screening of The Warlords set in the 1860s, during the Taiping Rebellion. The film was introduced by its director, Peter Chan.

The film from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Song of the Sparrows, directed by acclaimed Majid Majidi will be the closing film. Iran is among the countries in focus, the other two being Russia and Switzerland.

‘Stoneman’, a much awaited Hindi flick based on the serial killer who hit Mumbai in the 80s, will not be screened at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2008.

IFFI officials are now left with six films including three Hindi and one each from Marathi, Konkani and a multilingual flick for the Indian Premier section.

Abhay Deol starrer ‘Oye Lucky Lucky Oye’ (OLLO) will be one of the Hindi films to be premiered in Indian Premier section along with ‘Thanks Maa’ and ‘Dhuaan-From the fire within’.

‘OLLO’, a Ronnie Screwalla production, based on a thief from a ghetto of West Delhi, is a story about a gawky 15-year-old lower middle class kid who graduates to become one of the most wanted thieves in India. Directed by Dibankar Banerjee, the film also stars Paresh Rawal and Neetu Chandra.

‘Thanks Maa’, produced by Quantum Film Ltd, is a heart-rending story of a 12-year-old boy. ‘Dhuaaan’, a film by Mrinalini A Dayal, is based on the life of a couple in Mumbai. The film has Raj Babbar, Amitabh Dayal and Lakshmi Gopalswami as the lead actors.

‘Tandala’, a Marathi flick produced by Madhuri Ashirgade and directed by Sanjay Surkar, will also have its debut show at the festival.

Kangana Ranaut in November issue of Seventeen
You might be knowing "What women want?" Well, now its time to know "What a girl wants?" And if the girl is the smashing and swish-buckling Kangana Ranaut, then you better know what she wants! Kangana features on the cover of the famous fashion magazine 'Seventeen' with her trademark Rapunzel-like tress, that beats everyone's stress!!

Miss Ranaut, on her own confesses that she was never a lazy child as she was always up to something. No wonder then, when she started acting, she just did not want to get settled as a mediocre actor. She also goes on to say that after 3-4 movies more, she might just take the plunge into direction and writing screenplays. This once upon a time wannabe-Prime-Minister-would be- Indira Gandhi, simply sweeps you by your feet as she says that the day she becomes the Prime Minister, she will change everything!!
Heroes invited to Oscars screenplay

Director Samir Karnik is over the moon after he got an Oscars invite for a copy of the screenplay of 'Heroes' for its archives. Karnik received the letter from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, informally known as the Oscars.

An elated Karnik told : 'I'm sending them the script right away. I can't believe that the Oscars archives has invited our screenplay. Maybe because it is an original screenplay. That's why they invited it.' The scripts in the Oscars collection are made accessible for research purposes to student filmmakers, writers and actors.

Impressed with Preity Zinta's performance in 'Heroes', Karnik is all set to cast her in his next film 'Formula No.44'. 'She was wonderful in 'Heroes'. Now we're keen on casting her in a diametrically opposite role of an action-heroine in 'Formula No.44'. She has never done action before. She'll be quite cool in it because she's half a tomboy.'

He has already finalised Bobby Deol, Vatsal Seth and Sohail Khan for the new film. 'I've already written half the script. My core team is already in place. And Binod Pradhan will be my cinematographer as long as he wants to work with me. Right now my producer Vikas Kapoor is keen on getting the project in place. We're co-producing the film.'

Sonal Chauhan to perform with Bryan Adams
2008 witnessed a number of newcomers to bollywood. One of them who made a lasting impression this year is the tall and sexy actress Sonal Chauhan. The babe debuted opposite Emraan Hashmi in Mukesh Bhatt's Jannat and the movie even went on to become a Superhit, yet Sonal hasn't been seen or heard of much since then.

Now, all Sonal fans would get to see their favorite actress in a brand new avatar. Sonal would be seen sharing the stage and performing alongside internationally acclaimed rockstar Bryan Adams at a gala event in January next year. The gig has been organized by a leading jewellery company and this is the first time a mainstream Bollywood actress would be seen performing alongside a top international rockstar.

Sonal is all pumped up and excited at the thought of sharing the stage with someone like Bryan Adams who has a huge fan following across the world. One thing's for certain, whether she remembers Bryan's hit track 'Summer of 69' or not, Sonal will certainly not forget 'Winter of 2009' for the rest of her life.
Priyanka Chopra chosen as Goddess of Atlantis
Former Miss World and current bollywood Qieen, Priyanka Chopra couldn't have asked for more from life. On one hand, while she has got the critics and masses under her sway with her brilliant performances in her two back-to-back hit films - Fashion and Dostana, one the other she has added one more jewel in her cap of already glittering feats and achievements, by being chosen as the 'Goddess of Atlantis' at the mega inauguration function of Dubai's latest iconic luxury resort, the $1.5 billion hotel 'Atlantis The Palm' on Palm Jumeirah on November 20. This was one magnanimous function which saw the coming together of all the crème de la crème of Hollywood and Bollywood.

Priyanka also did the gracious act of introducing 'Atlantis Rising', an aerial ballet of fireworks, performed by Grucci family, who did the pyrotechnics in the Beijing Olympics. Amongst the heavyweights who graced this occasion included the likes of Janet Jackson, Robert De Niro, Kylie Minogue, Michael Jordan and Shah Rukh Khan, to name a few.

All in all, Priyanka Chopra is shining on the international map.

Monica Bedi and Rahul Mahajan to get married
After being evicted from Bigg Boss 2 reality show, Rahul Mahajan and Monica Bedi are apparently planning to walk to the altar.

The duo got close to each other being closeted with other members in the Bigg Boss house for many days. It was initially thought to be a one sided affair but now Monica Bedi is also smitten according to reports.

Both parties come together with a lot of baggage. For both this is a second stint at wedded bliss. Rahul Mahajan is freshly and bitterly divorced from Shweta Singh, whom he married after 13 years of friendship. Monica Bedi was married to gangster Abu Salem and resided with him in the Gulf under a false name.

Bigg Boss proved to be lucky as they were able to present a fresh image before the public. Rahul was even the strongest contenders to win the show but he blew it at the last minute. He was no longer interested in the show after Monica Bedi was evicted.

Now Rahul must duck the bullets from Abu Salem’s sharp shooters.
Raveena Tandon refused to be Ajay Devgan's mom in Rajneeti
Raveena TandonPrakash Jha's 'Rajneeti' was to be Raveena Tandon's dream comeback but the actress quit the project once she learnt that she would have to play Ajay Devgan's mother. 'You can't blame me for saying no to playing mother to an actor with whom I co-starred in so many films. But I had a bigger reason for my refusal. The film required me to leave Mumbai for two months at a stretch. Both my children are too young to be left behind for such a long time, especially since they don't even go to school yet,' told Raveena. Raveena was expected to play the role of an all-powerful politician in director Prakash Jha's 'Rajneeti', inspired by late prime minister Indira Gandhi's life and times. Raveena was to play Ranbir Kapoor's mother. And Ranbir's role resonated the life of Rajiv Gandhi.

Raveena, who had earlier played a politician in 'Satta', had several meetings with Jha and both of them were excited about it.

Raveena had to age from 20 to 60. Her makeup, saris and styling were all finalised. Until she realised the role required her to play not just Ranbir's mom but also Ajay's mother.

That's when the National Award winning actress decided to back out, thereby halting her spectacular comeback plans.

“Prakash Jha offered me the role in 'Rajneeti”. And what a role! I've the highest regards for Prakash. And when I met him for this part, I realised he's even bigger a visionary than I thought.

'He's meant to not just make films but be a national leader. He's absolutely the right person to direct a subject like 'Rajneeti'. I'd have given anything to return to cinema with this project, specially since he insisted I was his first and best choice,' the actress said.

Raveena, who was last seen in the 2006 dud 'Sandwich', is ready to return to the big screen. But she will only do a film that requires her to shoot in and around Mumbai. The actress is best remembered for her hits like 'Mohra', 'Andaz Apna Apna' and 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'.

As for the role of the female politician in Rajneeti, Jha is now thinking of casting either Tisca Chopra or Mrinal Kulkarni.
Lara Dutta to play Paro for Sudhir Mishra
Director Sudhir Mishra is directing a version of Devdas. However, the long delayed film may just be a little more delayed because of Mishra's latest obsession with Devdas's darker side.
The director is believed to have been very influenced by the film, The Dark Knight, and specially Heath Ledger's character in it. Therefore, he has now decided to rewrite his script. But the reassuring part is that the only thing that may be changed is Devdas's character. The characters of the two women in his life, Paro and Chandramukhi, to be played by Lara Dutta and Chitrangada Singh, do not reportedly change. The director is very taken with the portrayal of the Joker by the late Heath Ledger and it has inspired him to rework the character of Devdas, probably to include a darker edge to the character. Mishra is believed to be giving the script his complete attention currently. The film, which is being produced by PNC, will get off to a start early next year. The transformation in the character of Devdas will definitely be interesting to watch out for.

Jade brings Deepika Padukone in the launch issue

The Om Shanti Om girl, Deepika Padukone, happens to be the cover-girl of the newly launched magazine called 'Jade'. She looks a million bucks on the cover will be an understatement. The publishers of 'Jade' did not go wrong by choosing her to be the cover-girl of their launch issue.

This issue has got Deepika speaking all about her upbringing, her roots, her favourite food, places etc... She also explains as to why and how Mumbai is different from her hometown Bangalore. And even before you could ask for it, the 'Jade' guys did quiz her about Ranbir Kapoor, to which, the lady in red, replies, "Finding the right person makes a lot of difference”.
Arjun Rampal in MW November issue
“Arjun Rampal – The story of an actor’s reinvention”- screams the headlines from the latest issue of MW. If the headline was not catchy enough, trust Arjun to do the rest.

For all those who loved to hate and hated to love the on-screen Arjun 'Mukesh Mehra' Rampal in the blockbuster Om Shanti Om, and thought that this role must have been a cake-walk for the dude, then, here's the real story. It happened on a New Year's Eve, SRK and Farah dragged him into a bathroom and told him about his 'characterless' role in OSO. When Arjun was very skeptical about doing a negative role thinking of the impact it will have on his kids, the omnipresent SRK simply told him "Do this one film for yourself. You'll do plenty for your kids!" Can SRK ever go wrong?

Even the way Arjun bagged his role in Don is quite interesting in itself. Farhan says, "I'd earlier wanted him for a role in Lakshya, but he'd been busy. I'd seen him with his kids on holiday and thought he could draw on that for the character". Though Arjun's was ready to play Pran's role in the new Don "as long as you don't put me in spandex and make me walk the tightrope". Well, the rest...as they say is history.

Each and every film of Arjun's is surely a milestone in itself. This also includes the 'cult-and-still-cultivating' landmark film Rock On. Arjun cannot express his joy in words as he says, "One of my most cherished moments after Rock On was when Amitji (the Big B) came and hugged me at the premiere of The Last Lear." All that we would like to ask Arjun is that Amitji hugging you is alright, because both of you are stars! But what about your zillions and counting fans out there, who are hoping to get a 'jaadu ki jhappi' from their Rockstar of Bollywood, Arjun Rampal.
Katrina Kaif opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Yash Chopra Project
The legendary director Yash Chopra is back after four years. For his project he has managed to sign Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Shah Rukh Khan.

The pairing of Katrina with Shah Rukh is odd because of the cold war between Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina’s beau Salman Khan. They were driven to opposite camps after the infamous brawl at Katrina’s birthday party between SRK and Salman.

But Katrina has broken some ice earlier by starring in Shah Rukh Khan’s Temptations Reloaded Tour in the Middle East. Now she has taken a step forward by signing for Yash Chopra’s project as lead actress opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

When Yash Chopra approached her, she could not refuse, as it was a dream for her to work under the legendary director. Most actors will kill for a chance to work with Yash Chopra.

Katrina Kaif lost an opportunity earlier when she was supposed to do Yash Raj Films’ Bachna Ae Haseeno but later refused to do the movie. Fair enough, she is in Yash Raj Films’ next film, New York which is to be directed by Kabir Khan starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and John Abraham.
