Dev Patel plays villain in The Last Airbender

After playing an underdog in "Slumdog Millionaire", Dev Patel is all set to play a negative role in Dev Patel to play villain in Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender.

The 19-year-old has gone for a mean look quite opposite to his character in the multiple-oscar winning film "Slumdog Millionaire.

In the film, which is based on an animated TV series about warring elements of Air, Water, Earth and Fire, Dev will essay the role of a character called Prince Zuko.

Dev Patel replaces singer Jesse McCartney to play the part of Prince Zuko, exile of the fire nation.

Patel gave a solid performance in Slumdog Millionaire and I think he will play the part perfectly and look the part once in costume and with some hair modifications of course. Of all the characters, Zuko requires the most emotional range and acting skill to come off as the loved and hated character.

The Last Airbender is due out in theaters July 2, 2010.
