Aishwarya Rai is taking singing lessons in order to excel in her role as a classical singer in Maniratnam’s modern take on the Ramayana.Aishwarya Rai who is currently shooting in Peru for Rajnikanth starrer Enthiram will soon return to India to shoot for Mani Ratnam’s Raavan. Raavan will see Aishwarya in the role of a classical singer.
According to a source, “Aishwarya will be learning classical singing for this role. Ideally, she’d like to sing all her songs in Raavan herself. She’s a very good singer in real life. But not good enough to sing classical songs on screen with aplomb. So, like Shabana Azmi in Morning Raga, Aishwarya intends to take lessons in how to look convincing as a singer. She’ll be regularly taking lessons in classical singing from a guru”.
Aishwarya is also perfecting her musical skills to essay another classical role- the role played by mom-in-law Jaya Bachchan in Abhimaan. Rajiv Menon is remaking Abhimaan with Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan in the lead roles. Ash needs to look like a convincing singer in this movie also.
